Hyperion 610i net in cold weather
Hi there !!

I have just had a bad do with 2 of my hyperion chargers, I think it is related to the recent cold weather but I am not 100% sure.

I have the 2 hyperions set up in the roof space of my house, UK has had what we call a severe bout of weather, below -10c and worse in some parts of the country. The loft space I can only imagine got down to approx -5 at times.
The error when I got to try and charge my 6s packs was Output error, and therefore would not charge the batt. I tried the charger with a different pack and then I tried the 2nd charger with both packs, this gave me the same results. I moved the chargers to the warm and connected them up on idle, I could then get a 3 cell batt to charge, but nothing with a higher cell count.
The chargers were working fine the week before the cold snap.
I contacted my friends who have the chargers and one had had his in the garage, this reported the same fault. MY other friend that keeps his in the house has had no probs at all.
SO it must be something in the charger (eprom?)that doesnt like cold temps. I hear that output error is a common fault with these chargers has anybody else had the problem after keeping the charger in the car boot say in cold weather?
The chargers have given great service from day one and I like them, so this is a great loss at present (£200).
Good luck

Does yours return to normal then if you change the bullet connectors, or warm them up?
Mine seems to be stuck on a 3 cell only charge until I can get to re program the charger with latest firmware.
Hope mine works after there program
Good luck

The thing I notice is its a contact issue with stock bullets. I used a contact cleaner on mine and it worked for a few months.Who cares... its just money...

if store them in the house i have less issues but if i keep them in the garage where the temperature fluctuates it gets the error.

on my older duo. just under a year old its starting to put out an electrical fire like smell every time i use it so im going to see if i can send it in to be repair'd / replaced

Thanks for that,

I will look into the bullet connectors and check their contact resistance. It may be a point to check this ouit on a regular basis.

Fortunately I have re flashed the firmware with v2.4 and all is back to normal. So I am happy at present.

Thanks for your input Trevjonez it would seem that from the response the Hyperion must be a pretty rugged charger as not many have had the software problem I have had.
Good luck
