they ARE worth it, for the cool factor if nothing else. My EXTRA 300 had a 120 YS with a 3 bladed Graupner that went "supersonic". What a sound that thing made, even though the two bladed prop had more power/speed.

Well boys.

Got my EF Chinn Yak for christmas. Saito should be here tomorrow. And picked up a set of 4 NIB DS-821 servos. Now just need an rx and a 6v pack.

Are you all running A123 packs straight, for your 6V setups?

Thx

OMP Edge

I have a lot of fun out of this slab. It has plenty of power and runs 7 or 8 minutes off of the 3700 4 cell.

Prop
Not really. I got velcro on the battery back and it never has moved on me. I am just a sport flyer, so I do not jerk it around a lot. You can move it back a good bit and it will hang well in the right hands.

Hey Mech, hell yeah!!! I'm 90% done with the build (my 1st) and she's lookin baaaaaaaad!!!! I might have mentioned to you guys that
I actually had another slab...a Mojo 25 w/ an OS32 & 11x4 prop. I really wrung her out last Sun and that's when I decided I wanted something bigger...thus the
Edge. The ARF was really nice & well made...quality throughout. The instructions are kinda lame, tho, since they assume this is not your 1st
build...but I've managed to muddle thru.

I got this slab as a combo w/ the 55AX on the nose & a 13x4 Xoar. That kind of power in a slab that barely weighs 4.5 lbs oughta kick azzz!!!

Cheers
Jeff

That is a nice looking plane rc4stroker.

I have looked at the OMP 47" nitro edge for a long time and have not pulled the trigger yet.

This is my 3d profile plane, its been crashed a lot of times so its not looking the best anymore, but it flys much better now that I dont have to worry about putting a scratch on it.

Thanks rupps5

Bradley Petty, a rep for OMP is in my model club. He and a few of his friends helped me get the conversion done.

Hey Mech, awesome...I hear a 4c like the saito is awesome, since 4c's can swing bigger props...what r u going with? OMP actually had the best prices on Xoar, so I picked
up 3 for like $13 when I ordered and so shipping was free. I'll snap a few pics and try to get em up by the w/e.

Hey Rupp...pull the trigger and fire away, bro! OMP will be glad to take your $$$!!! That'd b cool then we'd have at least 3 of the same model
on this thread

Cheers,
Jeff

Yep, just a regular JR switch harness w/ charge lead, mounted on the left wing.

I actually thought about using a spare 2n1 I had off a 600N, cause man I really like all the functions. But in the end, as they say, with these slabs it's all about weight...as in "less is better"

So I just went with a 6V 1600mah nimh cell, and this weighed about 25g less than the 2n1 + 7.4V lipo (I know it ain't much, but hey, dead weight is dead weight).

The digital DS821's are real popular on this model so I went with 4 of those.

Subject Change!! Programming Flaperons on the DX7 (heli version)
Gents, I'd realy like to have 3-psn flaperons set to the heli flt mode 3-way DX7 switch (using an AR7000 rx).

Now, I can get the dual ailerons programmed in using 2 mixes on the tx....no probs there.

But try as I might, I just cant seem to get flaperons dialed in. I can get to the point where the left aileron does go down & responds properly to the 3-way switch, but the right ail doesn't budge. I've looked everywhere & tried everything...anybody done this w/ the DX7???

thx,
Jeff

Gotcha.

I went with x4 821's on a 6V 1450 LifePo. Still not sure about the switch. Don't want to add excessive wiring, but I still like the ease of reaching down and flipping the switch. Also going to install a Push-Glo. I really like that on my 600.

Went over to the LHS today and picked up all my lead extensions, glues and build stuff. Should be able to get this thing started tomorrow.

Where are those pics man!

I hear ya!! I hadn't used a bloody glow starter for 2+ years...almost forgot how they worked!

But there's another part of me that says, this is a plank, and this is what the plankers use, so...

Anyway, I'm out of town so it'll be a few days b/f I can get some pics up.

Koppter: thanks. I'll need to get the DX7 settings when I get home. In the DX7 'setup' menu (not the programming menu where the mixes are, etc) I'm almost sure it's 'flaperons inh' but I'll need to check.

What I'm trying to do is:

The tx has the 3-psn "norm-ST1-ST2" switch on the top left that we all use for the heli's. Switch down (or fwd), no flaperons. Switch back one click (=ST1), that should add the 1st flaperon angle- both ails do down, but still move opposite for steering. Switch back two (=ST2) both ails go down further for harrier landings, etc

I'l almost certain it'll require some type of tx setup plus a 3rd mix. Just aint figured it out yet.
