The rogue criminal american government is trying to squash free speech, no surprise there.
A large chunk of the american population supports squashing free speech. The media brainwashing mission has been a success.
USA = champion of freedom
THAT is the biggest joke in the world.

4. The playing field WikiLeaks has established is not a level one. It is much easier to steal information from open, democratic societies than from closed, authoritarian ones. WikiLeaks has hinted about future Russian leaks, but so far the vast preponderance of material is American in origin. Therefore the world sees the frailties of US diplomacy in much sharper focus than that that of, say, China or Iran. Do US diplomats look good in every exchange on which they report? No. But WikiLeaks doesn't allow us to compare them fairly to their foreign counterparts.

5. Even though WikiLeaks has rigged the game against the Americans, they don't come out of it as badly as you might think (and as Mr Assange doubtless hoped). If you squint your eyes and look at the totality of the information released so far, it turns out that the international problems about which Washington complains (for example, the Iranian nuclear program) are real and dangerous; that other capitals broadly agree with this; and that the American diplomats who are trying to address these problems often get little assistance from the rest of the world, including from those who egg them on privately. In other words, despite its clear intentions, WikiLeaks undercuts the view that America is arrogant, unilateral and bellicose.
Just for a bit of balance for our US friends.....

my only problem with this douche' bag is that the might be putting our soldiers at risk. Other than that, he's doing us all a favor. We need to hold ourselves to a higher standard and I think people are honked off because we come out of this looking as dirty as other countries that we hold in low regards. The US is the greatest country on earth and we need to remember that and act accordingly. Unfortunately, our actions do not often match our rhetoric.

here's an interesting question for you: if the US had behaved honourably, with total decency, fairness and taken full responsibility for all of its actions do you honestly think it would be where it is now?

It's an interesting philosophical question - well maybe not just philosophical. I don't have the answers, but I think most are in agreement that the answer be NO.

It's like a game everyone has to participate in, only that instead of the players being all honest and telling the truth all the time, they are all corrupt. And as a player you'll have to be just as corrupt in order to survive let alone thrive in the game itself.

agreed. But we can't take back our past. We can only go forward. My point is that if we want to puff out our chest and act like we're all that, then we need to behave accordingly. I hate hypocrisy and unfortunately, we have been very hypocritical since WWII.
We are FAR too involved in other country's affairs.

Just the typical American hating rhetoric
.

I don't think any reasonably intelligent person hates anyone. There is no difference in my mind between my neighbor and the rest of the world's population.

The US has plenty of enemies, but none more powerful and more destructive than Rupert Murdock and his cronies. They enable the government corruption and pull the wool over the people's eyes.
Julian Assange and Bradley Manning are heros and true champions of freedom. Fox news is crucifying these two as enemies of the state.

It's kind of strange that americans are very angry with these two, presumably for putting american troops at risk, yet a far larger risk to the troops in Iraq comes from the policies of torture and murder. Why is this not making americans angry?

In case you live under a rock, Manning has exposed systematic murder in Iraq.

The phrase "The rogue criminal american government " is the tip off.

That is not the type of statement to start any meaningful dialogue. That is purely hateful and spiteful directed at Americans on this forum, people that have directed NO ill will toward you.

Your first sentence is an indication of feelings toward Americans. For you to come back and try to pretend you do not hate Americans is a scam...your first sentence is your mission statement.

Hey, I'm not a fan of the Canadian government either, but I don't hate Canadians. I am just as critical of our gov't as yours. If you want to criticize our gov't, be my guest. I would not assume you hate Canadians because of gov't criticism. The american founding fathers draw a huge amounty of respect from me, true visionaries. Does the US today resemble anything your founding fathers envisioned?

The American people elect our government. When you start a sentence with "The rogue criminal american government " you have clearly stated your intent.

So americans will defend their government corruption because they voted for them???????? Ya, OK. Fox news strikes again.
There are plenty of americans who would agree with the gov't being a rogue criminal entity. Bravo to them.

Criticism is hate, that explains a few things. That's the typical defence for criticism when no rebuttal is available. The good ol' anti-semite trick. Works every time for the unenlightened.

It doesn't have to be.

But when you start with "The rogue criminal american government " , you've started with pure hate of Americans on this forum.
