Aren't the ARF models turn-key?

Another option more in line with the hobbiest is a sell a DYI kit. Include case, IEC connector, wires, pre-cut acrylic. Just a thought.

Certainly a turn-key, high quality solution will be pricey and only for the few that are looking for this convenience and set-up.

Ballpark stuff here

iCharger 306B = $180
Mean Well SE-1000-24 = $220
Pelican 1450 case (14.62" x 10.18" x 6.00", not sure this is optimal) = $80
Cabling/wires = $20
Acryclic/assembly = $30
Package Discount ~$30

This would support 30A on 6S packs and you'd be looking at a package of around $500. For a smaller percentage of fokls out there this may make a saweet solution.

Realistically the Acrylic is about the only ting you are marking up. I got mine cut for $6 and still had to sand the corners and paint. I assume you will paint the acrylic and you will of course have to sand corners so that is MORE, WAY MORE than a fair price.

You can't buy any of the other stuff cheaper and do it yourself.

IEC connector = $.97 a piece, but cost like $6-7 shipping for one or 10.

Good Silicon Wire like we like is not cheap anywhere.

Banana Jacks from RS cost $8 for the binding posts.

Once you order the case, IEC connector, fan grills, run across town to get the parts from RS that you can. Run to Lowes or Home Depot to de the double sided stick tape or etc. Acrylic paint for Acrylic. Sand the Acrylic.

That is an EXCELLENT value David may offer. Will be worth every penny.

Here's a nice cases that's not the cost of a pelican case. I just buy 1 , should be here next week.

Now don't start biding againist each other.

My case will plug into 24v Pd batterys setup that's installed in tool box in back of my truck. The 24v Pd batterys charge off the truck.

A "turn-key" solution like this is not a bad deal at all imo and I think there would be a decent number of folks that would pick one up.

Just the charger and PS alone make up the majority of the price. If someone is going to buy those 2 items already, it's not much more at all for them and it would come in a nice, pretty, functional package. I know I wouldn't mind spending a few bucks more for the complete setup. Sure beats having to go and source all of the connectors, plugs, case, etc. Then to top it off, get it all cut, mount it, make the cables, etc. It's a lot of time and work to do it properly. Well worth spending a few bucks more to have it done for me.

There again, with some things, I'm kinda lazy. LOL!

Another option is to have a "kit" that people can get to drop in whatever PS they choose as well as chargers, etc. Kind of like a pre-wired box. That way they choose PS-X, Charger-Y, and the kit. Just plug it in, mount the stuff and go.

Due to seeing and reading about all these awsome setups as well as my own charging needs going up a bit I've decided I'm building a 1-box solution like so many I've seen here.

So far here is what I have going into th build:

Chargers:
1 x iCharger 306B
1 x TP610C

Power Supplies:
2 x PowerMax PM3-55 (750W 55A @ 13.6VDC or 14.4VDC)

Thanks to David at ProgressiveRC for all the incredible help as well as putting up with my million questions! Truely top notch customer service!

I plan to run the PS in series to have 1500W 27.2VDC at 55A. I could of course bump them up to a total of 28.8VDC if the need ever arises. I went with 2 PS since the TP610C can't support the 27VDC input as well as to give added flexability.

Now I just need to find a good box to mount it all nice and neatly into. Any suggestions? I would like to use the box to carry my Lipo's as well. If possible with some way to contain any that might want to misbehave.

Also, does anyone know a good source (or name) for the PC type plugs some of you have used on the outside of your boxes?

Thank you all in advance and I hope to have some pictures up when it's done.

I'd like to see other case options besides the Pelicans.

I've got a couple iCharger's I'd like to make the centerpiece of my case when I find a nice one.

I've seen some in the rubbermade type toolboxes which is nice for dent resistance and also would hurt less if you bumped into it. My only issue is what happens if a lipo decides to go during transport inside? I know this might be pretty rare case and some carry thier lipos in a seperate box. But I think it would be nice to have everything all together even though it might get pretty heavy.I love my flying lawn mowers!

Check this out, Mike...

http://gallery.me.com/jodtyl#100193

This system can send my Honda eu2000i into overload, thus making the generator the weakest link.

FYI, I have exchanged the power distribution panel with a high power Anderson Power Pole distribution block. I also use Andersons on all my batteries, escs, models, chargers, etc.

One light weight case holds:

Three power supplies for 37.8 v output
Transmitter and neck strap
All parralel boards and adaptors
Watt meter, tach, and similar tools
Two iCharger 3010b chargers (2000 w)!!!!
Enjoy things that money can buy IF you don't lose the things money can't buy.

Woohoo!
I got my 2 power supplies in today from ProgessiveRC! They took only about 2 days tops to get here. Much faster than I had expected!

Pics of 1 of them. Now to do some measuring so I can find a good box for my charge-box project. The Turnigy 3S 2200mAh in the pic is for kind of a size comparison.

The PS are 13.7VDC 55Amp 750Watt models designed to be run in series/paralell. They are not APFC ones however I don't run on a genny much and if/when I do, I've still got some options.

Granted I have not put a load on it yet, but from both the video on Davids site, and from just plugging one in. It is VERY quiet!

Also for those who might be interested, the PC power cord type plugs are a C14 type inlet. I plan to buy a couple from Mouser.

Thanks again David and TJ! Lots of help with answering my 50 thousand questions!

Here are a couple pics of my small fleet.

Sooo.. I was wondring, for those electrical guru's out there, would something like this work for both 13.7VDC and 27.4VDC? I'm thinking of running the + and - from each PS along the red and black of each side giving me tons of ways to hook up chargers. At one end I would make a "jumper" to create the series connection.

Something like this:

Red = 13.7VDC Pos
Black = Ground
Blue = Jumper

If my thinking is correct, this would make it so if I plug into the first + rail and first - rail that would give me 13.7VDC for a charger. But if I plug into the first + rail and the second - rail that would give me the 27.4VDC right?

Anyway, all of that aside, do you think these could handle the possible load? At the moment I'm only going to be running a 306B on the 27.4VDC and a TP610C on one of the 13.7VDC rails.

Thanks ya'll! Oh and I also plan to put a fuse block on each of the Pos wires. Would that be overkill or? And any idea what size fuse I should run if I use'em? The PS are 750W 55Amp @ 13.7VDC.

This is Bolton case was setup to plug into my 24v Pd battery setup in my truck, that I added the black acrylic then used 10 awg wire from the Anderson plug to 4mm banana plug ports.
I still have plan to add some 1 hr rated 1500f fire retardant material for the battery storage side of the case.

Jan,

Just curious if you are charging those pack sets in "Sync Mode" on each charger or just regular mode?

Yes, SYNC mode will balance all 12 cells together. And if your running(flying) them together I personally think that's better.

It's better but will likely take longer to charge. If you're in a hurry, do it the regular/normal way.Diabolo 700UL / Logo 700 / 600 / 500 / Goblin 500 V-Bar NEO / Oxy 2 / Blade 180CFX / mCPX BL / Nano / V-Control
