I see a rrmember named ADY has done the big block conversion and has pics in his gallery. May be worth shooting him a PM.
Perhaps I will but I'm pretty sure the Aliens have gotten to him.

Hey electric just got better. ThunderPower is releasing their new chargers and 65C, gen 6 batteries soon. The 820CD charger is capable of 800W (2 outputs of 400W each).

You can charge one battery(5000 6S) rated for 8C charging in 6-7 mins, or 2 of the same in 12-13 mins at 4C each in parallel!

And this is why nitro will be around for awhile. Not every field has power and curious what it'll do to club dues when 5+ pilots are pulling 300+ watts all day on the weekends. I know of fields around me that have solar (I have no elec) and just not sure how their going to hold up to all you electric guys and these big chargers.

You would need a very large and expensive solar setup to serve the needs of large electric helis and planks. We recently got power from the local utility provider at our field after having a small solar setup. The initial cost would have been twice as much to go solar with the same capabilities.

As far as electric cost, it would add about $5 to each membership if we raised the dues. We didn't. Solar has a much higher maintenance cost like replacing batteries etc.

Even if you don't have power at your field. The cost of a generator and gas is still less than nitro over a couple of years. Personally, I could go through $2K in nitro fuel in a year. We get to fly all year in Florida, so that's a lot of flying.

Yeah yeah...good one. We need a thermonuclear power plant at the field to feed these inefficient things.
You know...the theoretical eff is 85-90% but the actual eff of a modern e-heli is really only 10-20%. Bet ya didn't know that.

Once again, burning fuel beats electric.

Sure Bob. I'd like to see your math on that one! And you can't count the efficiency of the power plant since this is too variable. Hydroelectric may be inefficient, but it is cheap.
