This is what happens when you fly nitro kids,, things just fly off at random. Also, breathing in nitro, may mess with your brain,, and not in a good way!
Okay if this wasn't staged, Then this guys should never be allowed to work on anything mechanical again.

Serious question guys.
I was just doing some torque calculations and notice that the e-versions don't have a third bearing block. You don't seriously think you're flexing the main shaft do you?
.
.
.
Oh wait a minute, never mind...those were the elec figures...I suppose I'd better keep the third bearing block for my nitro.

OK, I got the gearing all set...6.5:1 ratio. You know, I noticed all kinds of weird things with the Align hub in this. Wasn't very perpendicular and TIR was off quite a bit. Hole for the one-way wasn't even round. You guys ever notice weird things with this geartrain?
Anyway, I just made a new one instead of modifying. I got the gear pitch diameter to within 0.002" T.I.R. That's not too bad is it?

Next goes the Big Block.

Starting to get the idea of what "hobby" means to me?

Hey BobOD,
Do you want to pit that monster heli up against my Trex 550? I put NOS on it and a supercharger! It is ridiculously quick.

Bob,
Once you get the mod finished, keep an eye out for a OS 70SZ-H.That motor won't bog in the 600N and you'll get the same flight times as a OS50/YS50 .You'll get about 4 1/2-5 mins with the YS 91SR but take it easy on the sticks,it will eat main gears .

I don't know if you noticed, but it has a Trex 700 main gear in it. The pinion is a custom 18T. So, I'm gearing up for a pretty high head speed. I'm betting this 91 will have enough torque to run it down to 1900RPM (lowest HS I'd ever run) but duration is not the goal in this project.

What if I change out the pulleys on my Trex 550, and put in a short shifter? I bet I would beat Bobs heli then. I will say that the fastest heli I think I had so far was my Logo 500. It would flip and roll so freaking quick it was ridiculous. The speed I lasered it at was 97mph. I know it could have gone quicker if I up'd the HS.

LonR,, I don't think this Trex 600 would wax the 550E. I am curious how it would do against it.

I was going to tell you to come down here because nitro is being banned in NY. I guess we will have to meet somewhere in the middle.

You'll have no problems running a 1900RPM headspeed .Alot of these electric guys don't know anything about torque. They always go off of HP when HP really has nothing to do with it,alot has to do with torque.
2 mustangs with chevy motors setup for the 1/4 mile .
One has a small block 350 with 450HP and 472lbs of torque..
The other has a big block 396 or 454 with 450HP and 680lbs of torque..
The big block will stomp a mud hole in the SBC.
I would like to see OS/YS give the torque numbers on their motors because that plays a major roll in bogging.
Its like servos.
Alot of these guys think a servo with .05sec of speed and 170oz of torque is faster on cyclics than a servo with .07secs of speed and 200oz of torque. The servo with .07sec of speed and 200oz of torque will be faster. The servo with .05sec of speed and 170oz of torque will stall way before the .07 sec one will.

All I have to do is change out to a lower pinion for more torque! Its pretty much common sense to know that a car with more torque is going to beat the car with less torque. You will kill that car off right off the bat.

Now since my Trex 550 has been modified and has a short shifter and power pulleys on it, I will whoop any nitros butt.

Bob is laughing is Arse off because he is stoned from the nitro fumes. Put the pipe and nitro fuel down Bob, and go get some fresh air, which is hard if you live in the city. lol! Once your head clears, go pick up an electric heli and do some flying. They say flying an electric heli will increase brain cells,, not sure why though.

Actually, I give the torque argument to the electric guys. That's where brushless tech and high C lipos shine really. Not that nitros are bad at it, but if were a torque race...I'd side on the e-side.

Sheesh...I must not have disabled all of those lipo brain washing devives or something.

Thats true but not for a stock 6 cell setup.Your going to LOVE that YS 91SR in the 600N but HATE the fuel mileage .
