but it wasn't "PILOT" error
Yeah what jerk would come on to an R/C helicopter site and post demeaning material designed to insult and degrade r/c helicopter pilots anyway. I hope Mr. Miagi (or WTH his name is) is gone for good. You see he closed the topic before we could put him up for the Manny 2010 award. What an "anus" to quote a medical term.
Yeah that guy just flat out tried putting everyone down like he was better than all of us/everyone.I don't let it bother me.
I just hope everyone had a good Xmas and this cold weather ends soon ..

True true, seems everyone has one?. Ive even had some classic emails and pms from some peeps who need serious mental help, like right off their rocker material!!! It's all good though, those types never are to smart though and can't deal with reality when it really hits home, lol....Once upon a time there were Nitros, flybars and frequency pins...

Not much useful really. No more or less than some of the stuff you see/hear.

Well backing out the potential of the nitro fuel before the conversion efficiency was a little stretch...real and pretty accurate...just not useful. I figured it would excite some people. ie...having a little fun.

The rest of it could be useful. For example, if you fly a certain MAH out of a pack, it's telling you what your average power usage was for that flight. For the nitro, it's not as straight forward but the consumption rate on a .55 is about 2oz/min at 2.1HP so you can use that to judge your average power use for that flight. That's the intent of it anyway. The conversion eff part was a joke though.

Great joke really! I did not know that nitro helis fly at full throttle whole flight, and that they always tuned properly for max power (to last 5 or 10 flights). You probably will get 3.5 minutes if you fly at full throttle all the time.

Flying it hard could keep it pretty maxed wouldn't you think? And if it throttles back, it'll make a LONGER flight.
Besides...does not matter, I was using published information on consumption at WOT.

I don't understand why people are so surprized by this. I have 2 almost identical helis. One elec and one nitro. All the data I've posted confirm my findings quite nicely.
Two flights of equal power - nitro flies longer...every time.
Electric can fly a lot harder if I want.

BobOD, What if you were to use higher quality magnets ( military grade ) in a E motor design.

Would 95% efficiency be possible ?

10% would be more accurate, for a slobber meister(nitro motor) that is.

I'm thinking about getting a LG 600 SE with 5.0 and 693mm on 5000 12S to see what kind of flight time I can get. I'd be thrilled to get 6 full mins of hard stick banging @ 1900 HS, but we'll see...
