Electric=more power
Nitro=longer flight
BobOD
More peak power - electric
More duration - Nitro
+1..Thats about it.
When were talking flight time,its all out power,no turning the headspeed down crap.You can get longer flight times on both nitro and electric so it still leaves electric in the back of the bus on flight time.Battery tech hasen't went anywhere really,cheaper yes,longer flights,no.
This was posted 5 years ago and its still mainly nitros at funflys ect.. https://rc.runryder.com/t158393p1/?...tro+vs+electric .

This thread is stuck in 2005 and as you can see,the nitro guys back then were the only ones right https://rc.runryder.com/t190812p1/?...tro+vs+electric

This was 4 years ago https://rc.runryder.com/t232721p1/?...tro+vs+electric .The exact same thing over and over again.This only change is batterys got cheaper,thats it.They don't last longer and the flight times still suck.
BTW,im about to buy some new packs because mine (once again) didn't make it 50 flights .Sure I can still fly them like I have but the power isn't there anymore.I know a few guys that I fly with,12 setup's and their lucky to make it to 50-60 cycles.Then theres a few that get 100 cycles JUST like some have 5 years ago.It comes down to if you fly your heli hard or not.
If you get 100 cycles out of your packs,theres a pilot out there that can cut that in half for ya.

That said he is running small packs. Most comparables in this size electric are 3300-3800 mah meaning even Tareq could see 5 mins easily on his crazy flying what does this prove?

1.) Lons comment of Tareq "killing packs in 3minutes" is and was BS and assumption as expected and nothing more.
This comment was a total joke.Anyone can see the heli was dying around 3:00 mins and about to drop out of the air at 3:15.Even if he had 4000mAh packs,that would of been a safe 3:30 min flight and anyone that isn't a fan can see that.Do a search and read some of the threads 5 years ago and you'll see the fans will do anything/say anything to make what they fly better..

Lon you seen Tareqs comments and info do you need more or are you that silly you don't know when to quit? Keep putting foot I'm mouth dude the horse himself relayed the information. Packs are small and he's achieving 4 minutes, With his quote "crazy style" 3300-3800 would provide substantially more, obviously?

You have enough pie on your face start 2011 with a new outlook.

Straight and simple math using 80% of packs shows Tareq would get 5min 20sec with 4,000mAh packs. That seems about right with his flying style.

Shawn,
I would unsubscribed as anyone can read the same thing you say 3+ years ago and know how wrong you are.Tell us all something being as you say anyone can get 6-7 mins of flight time.What does he need for that heli to fly 7 mins the way he is,im sure you know the answer right?Back up your claims because its your bed and I never said things like this..

It's your word against Tareqs Lon not interested in arguing. Answers have been given deal with it. An arguement about his setup, flight times etc came into play when people would not back up accusations the facts were found and relayed show good sportsmanship is all. Take your personal issues to pm with me as requested multiple times no one needs to read that repetitive garbage....Once upon a time there were Nitros, flybars and frequency pins...

That are you talking about,theres no arguing and no personal issues,im not tossing your name in every reply in this thread.Where are your facts and proof on everything you say and claim,thats what Bob and others are asking for so don't say me.Were waiting for the facts/proof,not talking because its the same thing said over 3 years ago.You start attacking me for no reason and when you say I didn't say what you claimed I said,you kept going for no reason,so im not the one with personal issues.I don't have any with you,just asking questions just like every other person here.If you think asking questions is a personal issue then maybe you shouldn't reply anymore .Ask me anything you want,my feelings don't get hurt..
BTW,
proof of a 7min flight like the video so lets not talk about only Tareq.Back up the words you type..

Proof was given, in reply from Tareqs personal flying friend himself, not enough for you? Mcrackin did not supply the facts, so I did, any problems with that? You made the claim based on assumption, facts were given and it was made clear, this is simple grade 4 understanding kind thing here.

Plain english, take your personal issues to PM, is that clear? I said I was done with this thread and no one needs to hear your defense, the facts to the setup was clearly made from the person HIMSELF, 4 mins with 3000mah packs, "small" packs for a 12S setup, "ANYONE" who flies a 50 electric knows this is so, not my problem if you do not understand this or are willing to accept it.

Assumptions of my ability, who I am, and what any motives are of myself on your part are PURE assumption and speculation and nothing more.

As far as acting like you are being mis treated in any way well..
The beaten dog routine has gone on long enough chief.

I have ZERO interest in dragging it out further respond all you want I will not anymore, deal with it, and if personal in PM please as requested a gazillion times, hope that was understood, cheers.

Lon, I can understand why you say these things, with your limited experience, and only using the cheapest batteries you and your friends can possibly get. But I've been flying big E's for 5 years now, my experience is the latest gen quality packs last way longer than the previous gen packs of even two years ago. It's only been in the last 2-3 years that the packs have been good enough to power a heli very well. The big improvements in the latest packs is they come in cooler, they charge way faster, and they hold voltage better throughout the flight. You've got to try something better than the cheapest new batteries out there, so you can stop saying all batts are the same as those...

as for the batteries/flight time thing.they have the discharge numbers at or well beyond what most average pilots need(65c batts out now).They have the charging rates just about there.Now they are working on weight.The newer batteries seem to be getting lighter.Once they can get a 5000mah battery that weighs what a 3000-3300mah batt weighs now,flight times will really begin to even out.They will have the weight thing licked soonCompass helis Support Team
