A battery to power my X5 would only be one gram
I wish But not really. There are only few grams of lithium in our batteries. But imagine that every gram of it will give you 4200mah

4 minutest is good flight time for such light (small batteries) setup.
The first flight I only get 4 minutes out of my helicopter...
I go on a mission to get more time. I adjust my setup and my flying, buy new packs, whatever. I will NOT tollerate anything that cr@ps out in 4 minutes. And, I've been through this more than a few times.

The only point I'm making is that YOU are OK with 4 minutes. And I am discusted if I only get 4 minutes.

Back in your court.

finally the facts are there those who wish to speculate or assume further may continue at risk of sounding foolish.
Sorry to point this out to you, but that statement is full of speculation and assumption.

And back in your court sir.

Bob according to many assumptions unless you are Tareq or his abilities you have no worry about flying well past 4 minutes.

According to Mcrackin if your half as demanding to the setup in comparison to Tareq as me let's assume then you should see 7-heck maybe 9 minutes from same setup? Is that acceptable? Last but of assumption right there

Check battery history.
No...it's not my argument...it's yours. You show us. I want to see the new tech (please...not out of that magazine :rolleyes.
And, I want to see a graph of energy density over the last several years to see what the trend is.

Until then, my assumptions are good enough for ME.

History facts, science magazines, research reviews, means nothing if you do not want to believe them, or even do a small 10min research. I did mine.
my assumptions are good enough for ME.
That was my point...

I would like to put up a little challenge to everyone and anyone who would like to participate.

Go and find what you consider to be YOUR most substantiated fact.

Man, I get jumped on for making minor little assumptions and there is actually very little fact anywhere I look.

I am happy actually with getting 5 min 30secs out of my Trex 550. I have four packs for it and if I need to keep flying I have electricity at my field to charge with. When I flew my Logo 600 for 7 min 30 secs I would start to think, "Is it time to land yet?"
After so long, you just want to land.

How long is the longest you guys would want to fly for?
When u don't feel like soaring through the air with a plane, beat it into submission w/ a heli!

Show what, that battery tech has improved over the past few years...

To prove that an electric can be more powerful than a nitro heli for the duration of an electric heli flight(lets say 4 mins for a very powerful setup).

There really isn't too much to prove. It only took a few years to get from 18C packs to 50C packs. High C means your packs can maintain a higher voltage during a flight which implys that you can get the same power at a lower current or get more power. You don't need proof you just need an equation...Power = Current x Voltage and commonsense.

Keep in mind that most flight demos at funflys are no longer than 5 mins so an electric is a perfectly valid solution for that flight window and Im pretty sure crazy power for 5 mins steals the show more so than nitro power for 5 mins...depending on the pilots abilities.

Density improved from 30Whl to 300Whl in last 20 years or so.
I can beleive something like that even though it is offered with no substantiating evidence. I'll assume you are accurate there.

OK, did it go from 30 to 250 in the first 5 years, then from 250 to 290 in the next 5 and 290 to 300 in the next 10? This would be a possable trend and one to be generally expected. But I don't want to assume. Show me.

As for the next breakthrough storage, Lithium technology took over 20 years development before it even hit the market....and popular mechanics was going on about it all along the way.

Eco8

Sorry, I know there is a lot to read here. I made myself very clear several pages ago. Life and flow rate (C value) are increasing. Total energy density does not appear to be. I am not saying this is a fact but it was claimed that it was and I am simply asking to get some information on what we can expect and when. Just asking for facts.

And my reason for asking is that I am less interested in the peak power available and get more enjoyment out of the total power displayed throughout a flight.

Your right, power density is increasing. \

If you want duration you do have options. Higher voltage and possibly exploring the Thunder Power Prolite V2 series cells. From my experience they have the best energy density(lighter for the same capacity) of all the mainstream packs. I do know of people flying a decent mixed aerobatic routine for 9-10 mins on an efficient setup... Look up Gary Wright.

I don't know who the biggest idiot in this thread is.
It may be me for continually returning.

This dead horse has been beaten to the point of making every participant look stupid.

You guys wanting all these "facts" about battery tech need to go find them and stop trying to make others look stupid for fun.

I couldn't possibly care any less any more.

Electric=more power
Nitro=longer flight

Everything beyond that is simply a waste of bandwidth.
I literally never use the word literally right.

Great g_dmitry

You just expanded the development study to hundreds of years. I don't see how that is helping your case but keep going.

Capacity density is increasing eh. Show me. I don't need a commercial...I need to know what the trend looks like.

And BTW, Eco8, I am a fan of TP packs....wouldn't knock them. I buy others too. I'm just saying what I think you said earlier (I think it was you). Elec for crazy peak power and nitro for consistant power and higher duration. There are pros and cons to nitro and elec. I like both for their pros and tend to ignore and or work with the cons. Why do we need to make up stories of technology that isn't even here.

Mckrackin,

You gave me a great idea. I can make stupid baseless atacks too. See...
it can not use a stock 550 main gear. strips it right out. have to use 700 nitro main gears. much taller and stronger
Well...it's about time you guys had enough power to need bigger gears. What's your flight time.

And, if it don't smoke...it's a toy.

No reason for anyone to respond...it is kind of stupid.

More peak power - electric
More duration - Nitro

Check in when that's changed. With facts and evidence preferably.
