Looks good!

Emile, you sponsor a lot of helis or people just really like writing your name all over them.

I decided to take the raptor out of the fuse and keep it as my everyday flier, was developing new issues almost daily, it is a 8 year old heli afterall. So i put my chaos 600E in the fuse instead and got to fly it today. I have to say it is soo much nicer flying this fuse as an electric. Didn't get to do much more than hover tho due to the fuse shaking pretty bad at the skids and the vertical fin. I need some help from you guys tracking down the cause. It was flying very smooth with only a very minor vibe as a nitro. I'm using the same main and tail blades as I was with the raptor mechs and they were balanced the last time I checked. I did notice the fuselage has some flex to it that I never noticed before but the mechs are mounted in an almost identical way as the raptor was. Could it be a blade balance issue or the way the mechs are mounted?

I don't always fly helis, but when I do I prefer to fly scale.

I tried a different set of blades tonight and it still shakes. Going to work on redoing the mount for the mechanics tomorrow and try again. Still open to other suggestions as well.

Hi Chris,

You balance both tail and main blades? Are the blade grips too tight?

Is the tail drive belt or TT? If its a TT where was the bearing placed on the boom? You can't installed that in the center.

What kinda of shake are you getting? Tail up and down? If so check your tail shaft.

If head is wobbling check main shaft and feathering shaft. How is your head damper? Try changing your head speed. On my Evo90 there is one rpm that makes the heli shake.

Hey Gene, the blades may be a bit out of balance, I'm checking those on Friday. My balancer broke so I have to use a buddy's. The tail is belt driven for now. This heli was crashed a while back and I never checked the feathering shaft. I have a spare so I'll swap them out. I'm using the softer dampers that came in the kit, grey ones, not sure on their rating. The main shaft and tail shaft are new. I did bring the headspeed down and noticed the shake wasn't as bad. I'll bring it down some more. The shake I'm getting is in the skids and the vertical fin. As far as I can tell It's side to side. The blade grips aren't tight, just tight enough that it takes a good shake to make the blades move.

I don't always fly helis, but when I do I prefer to fly scale.

Remember to check the paddles and the flybar. Just the slightest bend will cause vibrations. If the vibrations were there before, it could be anything in the head or tail rotor systems. If the mechanics have ever tipped over, a miss-alignment of the flybar cage can cause vibs to start up. If you use an out of level flybar cage to set your paddles up, that can cause wobbles in the head. If the flybar has weights on the ends, think about removing them to reduce rotating mass. A tail shaft that has never been dumped can get bent in transit or by accidentally bumping it against a hard surface. All things that can make a heli go bump in the night. Take care.

Thanks Don, I'll tear it down tonight and double check everything. The heli was flying smooth as pod and boom but as we all know the fuselage shows things you couldn't see.

If it flys smooth as pod and boom and now with the fuse on makes it tail wag. Maybe the fuse cause wind effect on the tail and needs to be dial down a little or the mounting points from the fuse to the body needs to be relocated or additional mounting points needed.

If this is still a nitro maybe it's too rich. An out of tune engine will cause some vibrations.

If this is a Hirobo mechanics make sure you dial in the drive train. Clutch, hub, fan and shaft have to be less than .002" run out.

Not a nitro anymore. It's now a chaos 600, align clone. I did notice some flex in the bottom of the fuse so I'm going to re-engineer the mount for the mechanics. While they are out of the fuse ill change out the feathering shaft and look everything else over really well.

Got the vibes fixed, believe it was a combo of the way the mechs were mounted and too high headspeed. It's now flying perfec, wish I would have gone electric with it sooner. I will try to get a video this weekend and post it here.

The Evo50 was converted to electric with a clutch and runs nice. Never had the time to installed it into the Ranger yet. Had a few side jobs with work and family that was keeping me busy. However, the other day I was again looking at your files and gallery trying to get going again.

Hoping it will be in the Ranger before summer time, but most likey it will not be painted.
