Was looking on Horizon website for a new Engine and was wondering if anyone has this one, and how they like it?

This question shows up about once a year. There's a reason very few people have one. They're more trouble than they're worth.

At Least 20 Gallons of Rock Gut
I Treat It Worse than a Rented Mule
May be 3 or 4 Enya Plugs -been through it.

No Nitro motor experience - not recommended -
Never had to Test Horizon's Service or Warranty
Some day maybe I'll buy a bearing for it.

NX .52
Hi, here`s a video (I presume it`s the motor in question) that I came across that may answer your question. If it is then it looks like this guy along with Grey Eagle knows how to get it to run OK huh.

I've listened too that vid at least 8 times - OMG Head Speed
Being at least 4 Oz heavier out of the box - stock - then I added at least an additional 3 to 4 Oz's of goodies. " Not gona weigh it "

I too experienced a nut's fast head speed on the first few test flights. When I ran it up with my woodies - In hover it ran right past the original style MA Tach -even when morphing down the curves and on low nitro.

On board digital LED volt meter, on board temp gauge with thermocouple K Wire, two additional bearings with custom bearing blocks, an additional pinion and shaft driving a 3 phase alternator, regulator and bridge rectifier. It's pretty heavy.

Had to install a larger volume pipe - MP5 , a bru line, and a air baffle between the frame to dam the waste air over the tank and I tossed an additional O- ring and heat shrink on the needles.

I have no desire to run hot Niro thru it - Too Old for That - I'm just a FFF cruiser and like hot barking corners ect. I'm really suspicious of opening the barrel and bearing down on it. Still has a plastic head block - It just doesn't care when you pump it. Bear's down a bit then start's and continues to recover.

video:

They should call that the Evolution Bog-aroo 52. Every time Mark does any pitch imput the thing bogs down worst than an 80yr man chasing down a Dallas cheerleader.
(And Mark Padilla is a very smooth and capable pilot)
That thinks sounds like is going to hurl the piston out trough the muffler any second, and that squeel from the muffler!

I peronsally think any marketable Evolution engine should pass the bucket sink test, (sinks=bad, floats=good).

I have heard from others that have experiance with Evolution that they are the classic example of Chinese QA control. If you get a good one you are lucky and it will be fine but if you get a bad one just throw it away and don't waste your time trying to make it run.

Does anyone know if this is true?

I do like the finger adjustable low speed though!
