I've always owned and flown Nitro helicopters. However, I'm getting closer to finishing my Compass 6HV, and have a silly question

I've read many posts about people starting electrics by flipping into throttle hold to arm the ESC, and then flipping idle up on, and then flipping out of throttle hold to spool up.

I'd prefer "spooling" up the way I do with my Nitro helicopters, starting in normal mode, spooling up, then flipping into idle up.
This way, my fingers only have to know one procedure.

There is a way to program Castle/Kontronik ESCs to behave in the fashion I just described, right?

Just program same throttle curves as you do with nitro and you the start up will be the same.

Joe, that's only with the Castle ESCs and it is called "set RPM" governor mode. Don't use it. Just use the simple governor and you'll be fine. Also, don't use the gear ration stuff in the Castle software to determine your pinion size. It is way off. Use Mr. Mels headspeed calculator on readheli.com. I went off the Castle software recommendations and I puffed 2 lipos.

+1 on what both of these guys said.

It's a complex, costly, glow powered anti-gravity machine!

If you have a choice, go with the the Kontronik. I just got a Jive 80+ HV for my Logo 600 and I literally programmed it in under 2 minutes and I will never have to touch it again. I've owned both, and I can say with certainty that the Kontronik is headache free in comparison to the trouble I went through with the Castle.

I agree with misfits0311 concerning the difference between Castle and Kontronik. But I really like the autorotation enabled feature of the Castle, that is one of the major reasons I fly CC.

spool up
If you spool up in idle up would this harm the motor, with a 100-70-100 curve how can this be good for the motor? Why would you spool in idle up and not the normal way?
