I using another head for a flybarless setup and have an SDX head available. Would make a great Sceadu EVO upgrade.

Sure Dr. Ben; here's some Pic's:

Sorry if they didn't turn out that well. The lighting wasn't good and it was hard to get detail when everything's black.

Any way, the Outrage head was the third head I tried. It seems to be the most versatile as it has multiple mounting holes in the yoke and grips and the 2.5mm linkage is the right length. The other heads I tried were the VS Frenzy 50 and the TRex 600. Those would not work without modification and/or different linkages.

I didn't want to have to do any modification so that if/when I crashed, I could just replace the parts; however, I did do a little:
- Cut off about 1/8" from the top of the SDX Main shaft with a dremel cutting wheel. This wasn't required but it allowed the head to be mounted using the topmost hole in the outrage head.
- Had to drill out the mounting holes in the head to accept the 4mm bolts.
- Had to shim about 3mm on the mounting bolts so they wouldn't bottom-out against each other.

As far as geometry goes.... I was hoping that I would be able to use the futaba wheels that I spent so much time drilling to be perfect with zero subtrim, but that was not to be. Changing the wheels to the futaba six-point star on the outer-most hole provided for the additional resolution.

I have about seven flights on this setup using the Microbeast. It does fly well. Of course it flew great before the conversion too!

It would be an headache to do the mod on the main mast every time you need to replace it. If I were you, I would have fallen back to the stock SDX head.

Cutting the main shaft wasn't hard at all.... with the right tool. A dremel with a cutting wheel made it easy.

Having said that, if I were to do it all over again, I'd convert the stock head the way that MAJ did toward the bottom of this thread:

I see what you are trying to achieve. You just make it an FBL head that I miss out when I first read your post. Nice!

Rudiger's (TMRF) easy modification with just 35$ on the stock SDX head is the only one we tried for Fly bar less and is ok.

Im currently in the middle of the setup of my SDX --> FBL.
I already have two other helis flying very very well with the Microbeast BeastX, so I'm going the same way again.

I got this kit to convert the stock SDX head to FBL:
http://www.world-of-heli.de/flybarl...ersion-kit.html

It has a swash upper part driver and new pivot bolts (shorter) to the pitch linkage from swash, as well as long pivot bolts to attach to the stock blade holders. Only own mod is Trex600/700 (HN7100A) pitch linkage with quick UK's longer ball links, this is to get more robust pitch linkage that dont bend or flex from the high FBL forces.

So far all is good. When doing the set up I dont get 'blue light' on the BeastX at 6degrees of cyclic(aileron), I dont get blue light until about 8 degrees. I need to lower the throw of the blade holder pitch for a given amount of servo movement.
I'm looking for a solution. New holes on the servo wheels will probably do the trick(balls 11mm from center of wheel instead of 15mm will probably bring the blue light to 6degrees), but It'll look a bit strange when the rods from servos dont go in parallell...
Any other tips for achieving this?

You could ask MrHirobo11 on Youtube, he had the same set up, he was pretty quick on replies... Here's the link to a video of his where he flies that SDX, it's an electric setup with Microbeast...

I machined new holes in the servo wheels at 12mm from centre (stock is 15mm). Now I get blue led on the BeastX @ 6 degree cyclic.
Doesnt look as bad as I imagined. Seems to work well.
