no, it means that you have an on board glow driver as well as a regulator for the receiver. You still need a starter.

Two functions.

One, it will regulate a 2S LiPo down to a reasonable voltage for your on-board electronics.

Second, it has a clip for the glow plug and will provide juice to the plug for fifteen seconds so that you can crank the motor with your starter. Push a button, you get glow plug heat. Turns off automatically. It eliminates the need for an external glow plug driver battery.

In some models it has a 3rd function where it shuts it's self off in flight.

If the wings are traveling faster than the fuselage, it's probably a helicopter.

Why would you want something that shut itself in flight? That will be a costly regulator.

The SwitchGlo you could set it up for lighting the glo plug while doing autos or other Programmable Mixed function. The great thing is you can also turn it on during flight.

It also means that you must spend some money in the near future to get a nice regulator and a switch glo pro

No, they are not rubbish. The 2 n 1 works pretty darn well. Some people have had trouble with the small switch on the control unit, that is something that if you are worried about failing, can easily be corrected.

Since Ron at Heliproz South wrote this short "how-to" article:

http://www.ronlund.com/mm5/merchant...RCHIVE_2_IN_ONE

the switch design has been changed. But you can still mount your own external switch if you feel you must.

I've been flying three of them...two in two different 600 Nitro pros, one in a 700. The Nitro Pros are on their third season of service and show no signs of letting up.

I have a "fourth" one, although it's not an Align product, it's one I bought from Hobby King for about half the price. Been using that one also, no problems.
