Finished my first scale project - a lot of vibration problems are finally solved making the heli more reliable. It's based on Trex 600 mechanics and an RC Aerodyne fuse.

Any ideas on where I can find really bright strobes? The LEDs are barely visible in the daytime.

Check out the video

That awesome video/project Mark.

During your construction did the thought of making the exhaust exit the upper turbine ports crossed your mind?

I am curious as to the oily mess that would caused to the fuse or the awesome smoke effect of realism. Perhaps the more complicated method to route the exhaust to those ports.

I thought about rerouting the exhaust a great deal. There were several issues that caused me not to route through the top turbine vents.

The first issue is that the exhaust muffler ends well behind the turbine vents - which would cause me to "double back" on the piping.

The second issue is that there is always unspent fuel exhausted along with the hot gas. Since the rerouting would have placed the exhaust opening above the real muffler, all that fuel would collect in the muffler causing a number of unintended problems. I couldn't figure out a way to drain the piping or I would have likely given it a try.

I had the same thought on one of my scales. Still brain storming the idea for another scale project.

Cool project. Nice job on the heli!
I've all ways thought of doing a scale project, looks like fun. In forward flight with the exhaust trail it make me think the opposite engine was flaming out due to some mechanical problem. Now in a hover hard to imagine, maybe both engines burning oil?

Ya bright strobes would be cool and add to the effect. Even main struts that compress and extend would be neat.
