When I plug the balancing leads on my new 10S stick pack into my 1010C, it doesn't view it as a 10S pack. I believe this is because they don't share a common ground wire. Does anyone know of a balancing adapter that makes 2 5S packs look like a 10S pack to my charger so that I can charge it as one pack instead of separately?

If the 10S pack is wired as two 5S packs (two main output connectors), did you connect the two 5s packs in series before connecting to the 1010C charger, i.e. if you connect only the two 5S balancer taps to the balancer first, you will get an error.

DOH!

Yup, that was it. Thanks for the help. Thank goodness I didn't start trying to solder some adapter.

One last thing. I have 2 1010C chargers. The second one I picked up used here on RR. The firmware in the second one is a lot older. When it switches over to constant voltage, it charges at 41V instead of 42V. Does that make a difference?

If you are charging the 5S packs separately on different firmware chargers, one peaks at 41V and the other at 42V, then connecting them in series for 10S to go fly, that would not be so good, and I would update the chargers so you are running the same firmware on both. If you are charging a complete 10S pack on different firmware, it is not so important, only the 41V pack will not be charged as fully as the 42v pack.
