I'm thinking about getting another 450 class heli for the winter, something different and easy to have a quick fly and thinking about a Rave 450 and going flybarless.

I would like to stick to 3S packs for weight but would like to fun flybarless and run the Radix 350 blades.

What is the best setup for running a Flybarless setup on 3S and 350's?

Cheers!

Don't be afraid of a 4S set up. It doesn't add weight that much and you will not doesn't notice it on a 350 radix rave 3D. It will have rocket performance anyway.

Still 3S will also work. Just careful with max loading. Here I think the main point is the ESC. I started using a Jive on mine, and it turns into a totally different machine. The jive will add 40grams of weight but add 50% more power. This is according to my own experience, and power is relative in this sense.

3S you just use the 2221-6 engine and a 12t or 13t pinion. Just go fly.

Petter

I have been flying a stretched Gazaur Posiedon with 350mm blades for a long time now and it flies really well. Using the -6 Scorpion motor and 50 amp scorpion esc on 3s 35c Hyperion packs. Gets an honest 5 min with decent power. I remember i overgeared it initially and the temps were sky high, the pack was ruined but it was an old TP 20A. Went down one tooth and the temps were fine and the headspeed was almost the same! So just watch out for that. I imagine the Rave would be similar. It's the 350mm blades that fly so nice. Wish i could stretch my Mini Titan, or get a Rave... By all means use up your 3s packs before buying 4s ones

I know Nick Maxwell was running on 3S with 350's on its FBL Rave.

IMO you need at least 30/35C batteries, and a good 50/55 ESC.

Here is a nice video of Nick with this setup, with GOV on Total-G >>
