Finally after a year of working with this electric conversion this thing is up and running. This thing is sooooo smooth! Special thanks to all the people who helped with the many problem areas. Thanks Stan for all the parts and work to get it up, Brian for the trouble shooting and Randy for the calculations also thanks to Gary for the work on the Skookum set up. Oh and Ed for the build! nice work.

No the problem was the weight of the helicopter. It was at 24 pounds and some change, too heavy for the motor. I was able to shed 1,600 grams of weight from the nose by moving the batteries forward on the cg. It is now a little over 19 pounds and the flight qualities are great. I do want to change the motor and move up to a 12 cell config, a little more power never hurt anyone.

Very nice Dan! Nice to hear you finally got it up, DOH.
a little more power never hurt anyone.
I hear that, the Cobra now has a 305KV motor in it. If you go 12S you can operate at the same wattage with less amperage which is always a good thing.

Here are the numbers:

Motor (soon to be changed) Turnigy SK6364-230. The motor is a 10 cell configuration which is a little short on power. ESC is a Castle 110. I am in the process of obtaining a Scorpion motor for a 12 cell set up, that should do it.

Head servos: Hitec HS645MG, I found they work the best, nice and slow.
Tail servo: Futaba 9206, a must for the fenestron.

Gyros: The new Skookum 720 for the head with the separate power buss installed. This thing is awesome, a great improvement over the previous model. I have a separate Futaba 401 running the tail. The Skookum will not support the frame rate of the Futaba 9206. The tail rod was changed over to a carbon rod for strength.

I have dual Castle Pro regulators, one running the Skookum's buss and misc., the other running the servos. The regulators are powered by two three cell 2200's.

The lights are Gem 2000.

The Mechanics are the petrol fenestron with aftermarket CCPM for the head. I did use the metal speed up gears for the fenestron. I tried both sets of gears and the speed up gears give more tail authority.

The motor is mounted on a conversion system made my Daryl running a pinned 75 tooth clutch to a 90 tooth aux shaft. This shaft is running a 90/18 head set-up for a gear ration of 7:89 to 1.

The weight is as described above, a little over 19 pounds.

If you need more info pm me with your phone number and I'll answer what you got!

Big Apple
I used to live in the south, and every time I thought of New York, visions of New York City is all I could imagine. The area I live in is sort of like Mineral Wells, Texas. I'm sure next time I go to a fly-in some one will do me the honors of a free video shoot.

Tank you very much for all of the spec your are running that is cool.

I was thinking in the futur to convert my Cormorant that weight with a Benzin 231 31 pound to electric. I don't have experience with electric helicopter so I am trying to gader the maximum of information
