I bought this and can't figure out the installation process. The documentation is totally useless. If I mount it as shown in the photo on the Century web site, the servo rod has to be bent to accomodate it. The instructions don't mention this. The only photo I can find is a closeup of the mount, and doesn't cover enough to show me the entire tail setup.

This is on a Hawk IV.

The screws go through the carbon mount, then into the aluminum mount. Tighten the screws until the mount does not turn.

It may be due to you not having the properly bent rudder control rod as the rudder mount is made as a universal kit.

You can do a few things here:

Get yourself a Z-Bender pliers like these:

or try to bend your control rod in this fashion:

or simply purchase the Hawk Pro rudder control rod set as shown in the above URL.

Mount the servo body Through the carbon fiber plate. This will push the servo's horn further out from the center line. I did have to grind the excess horn off (metal servo horn) to achieve proper clearances.

The screws in question are those for the servo to mount to the CF plate. They don't include any hardware, or any backing. I picked up some little plastic backings that regular servo screws go into. I didn't know that existed, and the instructions reference something like that but not clearly. So I'm set there, but it sure would be nice to include that in the kit since they are required.

Bending the rod is no issue, I just didn't know that's what I was supposed to do.

Mike, as far as the position you describe, that would put it farther out and bend the rod more. I'm considering reversing the mount to see where that puts the servo horn.

The servo mounting hardware is not included with the kit! As far as the rod running down the centerline of the boom, it is not required! I have had interference issues with this setup before, but am always able to resolve it by changing the way that the servo mounts to the plate, or by rotating the mount slightly to correct the geometry

I ended up mounting it "all wrong" but it gives a straight shot between the servo and the tail, no bending, and is much tighter than the stock setup.
