When do you think we will see the following upgrades for the Furion 6?

TT tail, so we can have a choice.

0.7 mod maingear (~160t 0.7 mod instead of 111t 1.0 mod maingear) so we can have a wider selection of motors (eg. Tango 45-08 800kv like on many old Razors).

CF boom, so it makes the Heli 'look' like a quality MA heli.

Sorry, but until these boxes are ticked, I won't be buying one.

Cheers,
TomC

TomC,

Have you had a chance to fly anyones Furion 6? As for the TT vs belt drive issue, if you are coming from the Razor I can understand your concern. But, let me assure that this is not the same belt drive. This is a smooth, low drag and very efficient system. It works great even on my Fury 55 and allows me to hit the tail every now again without the fear of stripping gears. I am a long time MA supporter and love TT's, but rest assured MA got this belt system right.

Carbon boom, well you know that Tim made the decision to abandon the carbon boom before the Flyco buyout. If you must have a carbon boom you can still get one from Sabin.

.07 vs 1
I would be a little nervous running .07mod with the power systems available today. For me mod 1 and up give me more peace of mind. But as for gear availability, Brian will be able to give you the best answer.

Carbon booms are available. Just gonna have to pony up the $$ to get one. That is why Tim stopped them anyway, cost went thru the roof. I believe you can get them now but they are in the $40 and up range.

Actually, those are the 3/4" booms used on the Fury/Stratus/Spectra.

Yes these booms are 3/4 inch dia (~19mm) while I believe the Furion 6 is 22mm. Anyway, good find on those 33 inch booms in case I ever need to replace one of my Ion-x CF booms. Thanks for the link.

Clarence, I saw Bobby W. throw one around down under last May and it was very impressive. I did see him rebuild the tail after a tail strike. Looked pretty easy to work on.

I have no doubt that the new belted tail is fine. I'd just like to have a choise.

Same goes with the 0.7 maingear. I'm sure if MA made them they would be plenty tough enough for a 50 sized heli. Even my crapy Align Trex600 0.7 mod mains seem to last ok. Again, this would open the heli up to many more 10s motors.

I guess I expected the new MA owners to drop Tim's 'my way or the highway' approach, and be much more open to customers wants. Maybe I was expecting too much (or maybe I'm a little too demanding)?

Cheers,
TomC

Got a nice PM from Brian (MA) that explained all the re-tooling and costs that would be required. I understand their position a lot better now and see that I am probably guilty of expecting a little too much from a lean, but not too mean, MA!

I guess I've been spoilt over the last few years with 'new upgrades every month' from larger companies like Align. Of course, many of these upgrades just addressed initial quality (or lack of) issues.

Looking forward to the MA Electric 90 whenever it comes out. Then I can finally retire my Ion-x's (both are still going strong after ~5 years flying now).

Cheers,
TomC

Hi Tom, don't know if i agree on the .7 gears but i dang sure understand Tim's "My way or Highway".. And i'd be the last one to tell you to leave the heli the way it is.
Give them a chance tho, same as the topic on the other forum about the 450. I'm sure the economics of it plays a much bigger role than
not wanting to listen to their customer's wants.. Everytime i asked Brian a question about will this fit on that ect.. The answers i got were night and day difference from my past experiences..
