Aaron29,
we use the Outrage NRG 3600mah pack, mounted up front on the platform referred to on the manual as the "Mechanical Mount". You can strap the battery on the top or bottom side. It will be a little bit more protected if you strap it to the bottom. This will give you good balance without additional weight.

The D3 has a tendency to get tail heavy, especially after doing the cheap weight savings available.

Just for information, here are my results concerning D3 weight savings (I have ended up just using a few of them):
58g Carbon Landing Gear
19g Carbon vert finne
40g Carbon boom Supports
29g Cut front RC Tray
11g Carbon under frame
86g Carbon Main Frames
21g Carbon Tank Frames
50g 3000->2100mA FP Rx
40g Mini Throttle Servo
55g TR700 Canopy
50g Carbon Boom
65g Hollow Main Shaft
30g Smaller Tank (older Hirobo style)
40g Header tank
1g is 0.035oz

I ended up with 2100mAh (110g) as far forward as possible.
Actually I also mounted the header tank up front to help with CG.

My D3 is the carbon EX cersion.
No mods at all, Canomod canopy.

I always do C of G with a half tank of fuel.

Mine is exactly level with an Outrage 2s 2500 on the EX battery tray.
Pack weighs 125g

For the love of the hobby
