The white gear is 79T and the black delrin gear is 87T. Someone told me that the black one is more for 3D than the white one. Is that true?

The black delrin gear is 89T. The white delrin gear is 87T. BOTH are appropriate for 3D with the choice being dependent on engine choice, headspeed, and exhaust.

Hi guys

The 'black one' is also Delrin. Other than the motor running slightly faster, there is no real gear noise difference.

I had the black 89t gear on my SDX with a YS56. I changed it to the white 87t and found the slightly lower engine rpm a little better. Seemed to just be smoother. I could not tell any difference in the power.

Regards
Paul

The 86 tooth Raptor 30 gear is a drop in fit, and is a better gear than either the 87 or 89 tooth Hirobo gears. (it has a better tooth profile, stronger tooth profile, smoother plastic material, doesn't wobble) With the OS 55 I have become a convert to high RPM. The 55 develops its best power at a higher RPM than the listed 17000. I think OS simply copied 17000 from the 50 instructions, rather than dynoing the new engine. See my recent post.

John, do you have the part number of the Raptor gear? So no drilling is required at all?
