well for the second time in a month, I found a garter snake in my basement!!! First, im not impressed. Second I dont like snakes. I think I found a small hole that I think they came thru. My question is, what keeps making the snakes want to come in, and do they make snake traps?

Its getting cold, and your house is warm. That is why they are invading!!! I hate snakes too, any kind. Get a cat.

Just get a big King snake, they eat smaller snakes and your problem will be solved.

I like snakes I really dont get all the fear, must be simply of things you dont know about. Garters are harmless as are most of the snakes in N America.

I don't like snakes either. So, far 3 copperhead snakes have been killed on my property. I'm going to find a snake repellent.

Man, I miss the eighties.

fwiw..

There are no homosexuals in Iran, either....

Seriously...I was in the port-a-potti at the local field finishing up some paperwork, when I looked down to see a kingsnake slithering in to the loo!!...Don't know who was more shocked, but we both left in a hurry....!

No need to worry too much, there basicly just like big worms with teeth that bite you and make you go into painful convulsions until you die whilst franticly trying to get to the nearest hospital thats more than 30 minutes away.

When dealing with snakes you can either do as I do and run away screaming like a little girl, or poke it with a stick, Ive noticed when some people encounter a snake, they seem somehow compelled to start pokeing it with a stick for some reason Ive never fully understood.

There are several products that are stick paper/carboard that have a sticky glue paste on them that will work for catching snakes. I use them around the house for spiders.

Here is one brand:

Which is worse, ignorance or apathy? I don't know and I don't care!

Yes, the hole received a treatment of great stuff, and silicone yesterday. It was funny, I was working on my gasser, my sister came down in the basement and saw the snake, she touched it to see if it was real. After it turned its head at her. she pooped herself, I took it out side with a mechanical hand. I dont like them, yep Im a weenie. But it was funny to see her reaction.
