After flying my Align 3g unit approx 200 flights, I am pretty happy with it! For the first 50 flight, It felt pretty awkward. After I got comfortable with the way it flies, I Like It! Just wondering, what makes the Mikado, Skookum and others better?

consistency particularly on the tail. Also I find the tracking to be better.

CONTROL , dependability, Adjustable, Just flies like a FBL should. Really cyclic not to bad on 3G but could be better but the tail is another story. I have yet to see or talk to someone that truly happy with 3G on anything big than 500. Yes i owned 1.. My Best two days was the day i got it and the day i sold the replacement unit.
OK I'm done. Honestly when you get chance to fly quality FBL you will know yourself.

Unless I'm mistaken (by all means correct me if I'm wrong), you won't find intrinsic rudder to cyclic mixers in the code of the 3G.

Total-G is a unit by Curtis Youngblood Enterprise. It is a 3 Axis single box unit, that also includes a servo bus, and a Governor. It also includes top of the line customer support, from the designer himself.

I would not recommend the Total G right now. My buddy had one and set it up right, but the piro'ing on it sucked. When he piro'd it, the tail would dip down. No matter what he did, it kept doing it. He was advised that that was a problem that needed to be corrected. The system also had trouble connecting to the computer.

I wouldn't bother with the Total G at this time. Go get yourself a Vbar and forget the rest if you want something different than the 3G.

When u don't feel like soaring through the air with a plane, beat it into submission w/ a heli!

I have flown with several of the flight control systems. The Total G has been my most recent one. IMHO, the Total G is a top contender in flight control systems. Also, I do not know of any problems that it has.

At this moment I own the Skookum 720, Vbar 5.0 pro software and the Total G. The Total G is my favorite. I also know that Curtis will continue to improve the flight control system.

I guess I will be the first to admit that I am truly happy with the tail on my 700 with the 3G. The 3G has very good feel out of the box and can we fully tuned via the software including piro comp and piro optimization. I did not have to touch any of the tail settings to get my tail to work, I just cranked up the gain until it wagged and then backed off a until it stopped. I believe that the key to getting the 3G as well as other units to work correctly is to ensure you firmly mount the sensor (not by stapping it down hard), align the sensor correctly (as to not get incorrect inputs), run stable blades (I running G5 FLB blades) and setting the unit up correctly (with the 3G, just follow the manual exactly and tweak the gains as outlined in the manual).

I would agree if those that posted were just blowing smoke but that's not the case! The difference is they have actually installed and flown the Total-G where as some are offering opinions that have not used the Total-G. I've used the TG quite a bit and setup many! They have always worked the same way every time and they fly great. In piros, it's not much different than my flybarred helis. It's actually better. On the ENV it flies great! It's the cleanest install of any heli I've ever had!

The great majority of reps fly what they think its best. Rep or not I would fly the total-G. Dont forget that the 2 main testers are 2 of the best pilots in the world, Nick Maxwell and Curtis Youngblood. Yes the Total-G is new, CY is only on version 1.02 of his software vs. 5 for the v-bar and at least 2 for the 3G. CY is constantly updateing and testing in an effort to improve what is allready a very good software. In addition, there are many things that can be tweaked from the radio such as roll, flip, and piro rate, flight controll gain, tail gain, and Gov. head speeds. You have a top of the line gov. experience from the ATG, plus a great gyro from the Mini-G and solid g.
