You should put that Speccy on top of the TV to stare at during the ad breaks.
Actually, she's sitting on her head with the guts hanging out. The motor was pulled out for an upgrade and I have too many projects going, so I haven't had the chance to put her back together.

The TDR is my top priority at the moment.

Oops, back on topic. My engine is mounted backwards. I don't like to look at the tank and just use my TX timer, and easy access to the spark plug.
Just another crappy day in Paradise....Aloha!

I'm really surprised at all the folks that run the backwards config.

I'm also surprised that there is so much need to check the spark plug. These things aren't glow plugs, they'll last damn near forever.

but then thats the great thing about hobbies. Everybody mostly gets to do what they want.........thats why its fun.

I thought that having the fuel tank (who's content's mass changes continuously during flight) right on the CG (plug forward config.) would be the most ideal for stable characteristics during flight.

Does the mass of the heli (lbs.) out weigh the change in mass of the fuel (just ozs.) when you config. with plug-forward?

It's been my personal experience to check the plug until I got the hang of the gasser way of life. I guess I could give it try with the engine facing forward, but my heli's are flying pretty well. Maybe I'll give it a shot over the off season.

I used to fly with the fuel tank in front, but after i converted to FBL, I noticed that you get a better piro throughout the whole flight. Also you can see the rpm when the gas in the tank settles down due to vibes.

The only disadvantage that I can think of is that you will not find it easy to run a tuned pipe.

As far as cooling is concerned; I have not gone above 240 with the little stock minair fan. Im sure the high speed funnels help out a lot too.

A little late on the posting but I began with the engine to the back ,but I did not like the Hatori hanging so far back. I turned the motor to the front, now everything looks more balanced. Used the original Stratus tank(500cc)and it fits perfect. The carb and exhaust cutouts in the canopy are not that different either way.

The first three were taken before converting to 2.4.

This one is now with Canomod and 2.4, Hanson G26 3d Pro.
Hey its nice to watch the tank and fly, fly ,fly and see how slowly the level drops compared to my Stratus.

heliproz.com and ronlund.com usually have everything. I'm sure there are other dealers with inventory as well.
