Well there are only 6 degree of freedom on a heli....

...but the number of orientations would be infinite?

I think in whole number of degrees there are 129,601, because 0deg X 0 degrees equal one more position ?????

I think about the hereafter. I go somewhere to get something, then wonder what I'm here after ?

Mine are all straight. But my policy is "don't ask don't tell".

Ok, so let's just agree that every 10 degrees is an orientation ...

(36 * 36 + 1) = 1297

This way we can go ahead and get the t-shirts made ...

I'm going to have to disagree. At about 18 degrees, I can no longer see the entire tail boom and it's just seems different.

I'm intentionally being a troll here because I just don't see the point of this.

But from now on, I'll officially go with 24 orientations, no more, no less. If I catch anyone at an "in between" position. They will receive a reprimand from the safety officer.

so what position is number 697?
Hrm.. I suppose every time you pass 360 degrees X you add 1 to Z and start X again at 0.

So 697 would be somewhere around 23 degrees X and 2 degrees Z?

I was thinking in 90 degree sides to the heli for my answer.

Head upright - 4 sides of the heli to look at. Tail right/left, nose in, boom in

Head down (upside down) - 4 sides of the heli to look at. Tail right/left, nose in, boom in

Head Right - 4 sides of the heli to see (as if you were doing a vertical piro directly in front of you), tail up/down, nose in, boom in

Head left - 4 sides of the heli to see (as if you wer doing vertical piro directly in front of you with skids facing right)

Head away (skids in) - 4 perspectives (not sides) of the heli, boom at 0, 90, 180, 270

Head in - 4 perspectives, boom 0, 90, 180, 270

So I'd go for 4X6 which is 24 orientations such as Aaron stated.

If one can get oriented in these 24 directions so as he can control his boom it will open up things like controlled death spirals, 360 tic tocs (head/aileron down and up) and skid in/out piro funnels

High Voltage just works better
