Align 3G 3G Mod
Hi,

I have been testing a mod to the 3G, that will help some of those that are having issues with the system. I've been flying it for a while now to test and confirm my findings before making any comments. I have forwarded my findings to Assurance and Taiwan. Not everyone is having issues or concerns as evidenced by so many of the factory pilots, and local pilots I speak to are not having any issues. I was not having any issues, but wanted to go the extra step to make things even better, continual developement. I find that most of the issues are vibration induced as the sensors are very sensitive.

If you want to try this mod, do it at your own risk, as it may void any warranty, I don't know.

The mod involves taking the sensor appart by the 4 screws on the bottom. Lift the top off of the base and carefully remove the the sensors from the top of case. Use some silicone, I used high temp silicone, as it was the only kind I have, but I have been told that silicone for electronics that is not corrosive is available, and apply a gob to secure all 3 sensor units to each other. Do not put too much on. You do not want the glue to touch too much of the sensor case, this way the case transmits less vibration to the sensors. I did not put any silicone between the bottom of the rudder sensor and the square plastic base of case.

You should find that the heli is much less "nervous", less tail artifacts, you will be able to turn all your gains up,

Your heli will be much more solid.

You must minimize vibrations, and use FBL blades.

You will note from my settings below, the gains are about 100% now, and rudder is at 85-90%

silicone
Electronics grade silicone is best to use since it is non corrosive to the electronics.

What align really needs to change is that stupid connectors they used on units they suck to unplug all the time just to program the unit and are well known for coming apart causing crashes.

Ditto on the pics. Mine is alright on the cyclic but the tail is what I call nervous. I do know that the TT is not very true running on mine. I did install another bearing the boom with not much help to the vibes. I have another TT coming and I am going to try that. I really can't tell if it is the 3G on the TT.trex 700fbl cal30,minititan,, trx600fbl,trex250,logo 500,Velocity N2

I have a 3g system on my velocity 50. This mod works well. ail and ele gains went from mid 50's to mid 90's with no bobbling or hunting. Takes about 5 min and is well worth it.

Step One.

Step Two.

Just out of curiosity? How am I supposed to silicon the sensors together with the tabs in the lid?

In my install, I tried to only have the tabs touch the glue, and not the rest of the case.

I just filled the area in the center of the sensors up to close to the top of the vertical sensors. I used a small screwdriver to work it in a little bit in the gaps between them. I did not modify the case, I just pushed the alignment tabs thru the unset sealer and put it back together. Flew my velocity with 3g again tonite (3 flights) Still extremely happy with the results.
