I'm going to start using higher rated power connectors with this Logo 600 with an eye to 700 electric setups in the future so I want to choose wisely. I know Deans are the gold standard for lower amp draw setups for most of us but now I need to decide between the EC5 connectors or maybe Castle Creations 5.5 mm banana plugs. I know this has been covered before but hopefully you all have come to some consensus. Any advice? Thanks

Here's another way to put it, If I went to IRCHA this year and looked at high power setups which connectors would I see mostly? Wile we are on the subject I'm gonna need high power power supplies and charger, any suggestions. My power supply can only handle a 6s pack at 7 amps...

RE: Power supplies.. David over at progressive has a good selection

The RSP series (MW) have active PFC so those are best if you plan to use a generator at the field.

RE: Connectors.. Most folks here in NorCal with 10/12s setups are using EC5 these days. I personally think it is simpler than having to protect the ends of an open bullet when not in use...

I recommend EC5. Plenty of current carrying capacity, you can't connect them reversed, the battery ends are protected from shorting, and they solder and assemble very easily. The other good part is the initial contact arc doesn't occur on the primary connecting surface (unlike deans.)

As far as power supplies and a charger... My primary high amperage charger is a iCharger 3010 used with a 24V power supply. I can parallel charge all 4 of the 12S 4000 packs for my 600SE simultaneously at just over 1C and I then use my lower wattage Hyperion 615 Duo to charge my 500 or foamy packs.

I'm switching from Deans to Anderson PowerPoles for my 10S setup.
Genderless connectors, but you cannot reverse connect when plugging up. Big shells to grab hold of to discconect.

I think about the hereafter. I go somewhere to get something, then wonder what I'm here after ?

Care to elaborate on that? I'm getting close to putting together a field charging kit for use with a generator. Not sure what PFC is or why its better...

Thanks

+1 on xt60. I have been using it on my 12S setup; it can easily handle the amps. EC5 are really good too however xt60 for me is more than enough. If you dont like soldering then anderson power poles are you best bet. I several people on my field that swears by them.

Which powerpoles are you guys using? The ones I "usually" see are only rated at 45A which is a bit low for a Logo 600.

I am switching top the 75 amp, they are huge compared to the deans, but lots of surface area to get a hold on to unplug.

.
Hmmm, maybe I should have gone for the 45 amp size.
