It's the same thing here guys. Neither system is flawed, and winnings only speak to the pilot, not the equipment.
My point exactly. The only REAL benefit to FBL helis is the increase in power or flight time. That is indisputable and a real gain. Other than that it is preference.
If you get your kicks from from believing that your choice of flying system, be if FB or FBL, is more superior than the next, then more power to you.
Al,I am just offering the other side of the coin so to speak and trying to keep the discussion honest without misconceptions and innuendo........Ron

****EDIT*** You also get increased stability and ease of mechanical setup

This is the most accurate statement I've ever heard from you Ron, way to go!

eCCPM has interaction/cross coupling from servo speed variance etc, it would seem to me that a FBL gyro would remove that and feed the corrections to the rotor. In the case where any system needs a radio mix to fly accurately/pure the FBL stabilizing electronics could be of assistance. An out of phase rotor could reap some benifit. Tune the radio or tune the gyro bank. Then there is the feel difference due to lag and less pilot corrections. Some systems have very little delay these days.

Spank me with those paddles baby, there lay one benifit at least!

If you ask me I could give a rat's ass which type anyone flys, however there is more to it than meets the eye.

It's been several weeks since a good FBL/FB thread popped up.

Ok I've been FBL for about 3 months now on my 12S Trex 600 vbar and have recently thought that I may have been better off to this point not converting. It seems that since conversion, I've stripped TT gears 3 times, stripped an aileron servo horn once, had one of the cyclic servo plugs back out twice and just flew the heli for the first time in a month yesterday since having to replace frames from the last "unplugging" mishap. At this point I'm wondering if I'd have been better off staying FB. The heli always flew great and in 9 months never had a problem as a FB heli.

Do I want to put the FB back on? No, I've done the conversion, I like how it flies and I converted to a belt!

High Voltage just works better

Sounds like a TRex problem, not a FBL problem.

Thank you Rogman88
The discussions thus far are good for the most part.

Couple of things...

ANYTHING improperly set up is just that, no need to beat this dead horse any longer, as FB or FBL set up incorrectly will result in fighting the flight.

More clarification on FAI, F3C, F3N allowing or disallowing FBL?

@rexxigpilot, No one is bashing Bert and Bobby, I respect there opinion, and would like to hear it, was told 1st hand how they don't like it, which is why you don't see them flying it.

But huge thanks the Rogman88 for refocusing the question.

I have not flown FBL on my own heli, only others, I have noticed Pirouette maneuvers being "disconnected" even after adjusting my sticking to the values in the bird, I have unfortunately NOT had the opportunity to fly VBAR which is the unit I'm looking to purchase, that is of course if the damn Germans would stop worrying about the packaging and just get it to the market.

please continue...

If you would learn to fly better you wouldn't need the FBL to help you. FBL's are for helicopters what the Corvette is for the guys with the small noodles (except for sensei Benny).

This is among the most pointless, irrational, disgustingly juvinile insults to reason I have ever had the bad fortune to read. This really belongs on the Jerry Springer show. Actually, it even falls short of that. And still somehow I can't stop reading. Damn you people!!!

Carry on!

What a great read, to me sooner or later they will make a system that fly's the heli all by the push of a button and all we have to do is sit back and push buttons and tell the heli what to do.

And I hope it comes with push button start too.

The indisputable power increase is real and addictive..... it's the reason I have no plans to go back to the FB on the 600N.

The elimination of parasitic drag from the FB is real but...

doesn't the FBL unit limit the amount of cyclic and collective you can throw at it in a given condition? Kind of an auto collective manager and or an "e-ring"?

I fly with 9 on the elevator 9.5 on the aileron and 13 on the collective and it's up to me to manage that, not electronics.

couldn't this be perceived as power increase?

+/- 14 on collective and +/- 8 on cyclic. It is not perceived, it is real without a doubt.

If you have to ask, then no. The difference between the T700N with fb and w/o fb was stunning. I set them both up with +/-13* of collective and 8* of cyclic governed at 1950.

For Aaron I'll say I have greater overall pitch capability with FBL. And no, I won't go back to a flybar if I can help it. It fits in my car better without one anyway.
