I've always wondered how that was done. I've tried to make cowlings before, but I did it from the outside and never turned out very nice. Now I understand the reverse mold process you're using.

Thanks you for the compliments. I'm sure I could get posts about how I did it all wrong and I have no doubt. I do struggle with the fiberglass a bit. I just don't do enough to invest in all the tools and supplies required to do a pro job. This particular heli is all custom made and the canopy just goes with the theme.

I got a few PM's about the motor and heads in the background. That's my LS1 for my 97 Vette'. Been working on it for a few years. I bought the 130,000 mile car specifically to work on it and the custom made parts I have done for it are numerous. Couple/ few more years maybe.
I made the throttle body from scratch 100%. made then scoop from a mold that I made. Made the headers. It gets pretty intense. Been working on the chassis for months. The heli's, the cars, whatever, its all the same to me. The gift I have is just to work hard and ignore criticism. Me and criticism go way back...

Trimmed and Fitted
This will be the last post about this, canopy is essentially finished. I really could not be any more pleased at how it came out. Nothing more than an idea a couple weeks ago. The style is exactly what I was after and it and the chassis compliment each other. Might trim the very back another quarter inch. Everything that moves in the chassis clears just fine. Time to go into airbrush mode.
