Toilet bowl?

Christmas is a lot of things to a lot of people and it was a special day before historical Jesus was born.

It is a popular time now for families to just come together.
It doesn't matter what anyone does or doesn't believe.

“We can evade reality, but we cannot evade the consequences of evading reality”

My quote for the day. - mckrackin
Outstanding!

Here's my quote for the day:
"Organized religion is the work of the devil."
Here's someone else's quote for their day:
Christianity -- the belief that a cosmic jewish zombie who was his own father can make you live forever if you symbolically eat his flesh and telepathically tell him you accept him as your master, so he can remove an evil force from your soul that is present in humanity because a rib woman was persuaded by a talking snake to eat from a magical tree... yeah, makes perfect sense.
Plenty goddam funny, eh?

And the all time Grand Prize winner of 'fundamentals of existence' qoutes IS:

"Religion, The Ultimate Bullshiit"
by George Carlin

In the Bullshiit Department a businessman can't hold a candle to a clergyman.

I gotta tell you the truth, folks, when it comes to bullshiit -- big-time, major- league bullshiit -- you have to stand in awe of the all-time champion of false promises and exaggerated claims, RELIGION. No contest. Religion easily has the greatest bullshiit story ever told.

Think about it:

Religion has actually convinced people that there's an invisible man living in the sky who watches everything you do, every minute of every day. And the invisible man has a special list of ten things he doesn't want you to do. And if you do any of these ten things, he has a special place full of fire and smoke and burning and torture and anguish where he will send you to live and suffer and burn and choke and scream and cry forever and ever 'til the end of time.

But he LOVES you!

He LOVES you -- and he NEEDS MONEY! He ALWAYS NEEDS MONEY!

He's all-powerful, all-perfect, all-knowing and all-wise -- but somehow he just can't handle money.

Religion takes in BILLIONS of dollars. They pay NO taxes and they ALWAYS NEED A LITTLE MORE.

You talk about a good bullshiit story -- HOLY SHIIT!

GOOD MORNING SUNSHINE!! HOLIDAY IS OVER BACK TO THE FIGHT

creation is outlawed for a reason

we dont teach myths to children

the creation myth is the same as teaching the stork story to a college level reproduction class.

I agree that George Carlin was a "comic genius" no doubt--- however he did not have all the answers. Also, his perception and intelligence didn't come from no where. Now that he has passed on he now knows for sure whether he was right or not---- he could possibly have been quite suprised

I'm not sure what organized religion has to do with God or the true "source of all things" but they do in fact use it to their advantage, that being said it doesn't mean there is not a "God", "higher power" or "Source" beyond our comprehension.

there may be a god

we know for a fact he did not create mankind though.

We also know the bible would not be a place I looked into for any facts regarding a real god.

I was watching banned from the bible yesterday, it was OK had some great history on the construction of the bible and how some of the books made it into the bible.

I love the history from that period.

No we don't.

Think about this for a minute--- same parents, same genetics, but yet the kids all have a very distinct and unique personalities from each other. That is the "soul" or "Spirit" that is as unique as a fingerprint.

Maaaaaybe there is some creator.
It's not the guy in the bible or any other book of fables on this planet.

Maybe the creator is still at it.
Maybe we're not finished. You have to admit a lot of people are half baked.

Maybe we're not even the thing he wants to create but just some weird side effect of his experiment. That would explain all the diseases out to kill us off.Maybe they're not diseases but rather attempts at a cure for the planet.

Who cares?
We'll all have to wait and see.
I'm betting we won't see anything at all when the time comes.

sorry doug its fact, as gravity.

If you jump up in the air you fall.

evolution is fact the same exact way.

You can deny it all you like but that wont change that its just a lie to yourself.
but yet the kids all have a very distinct and unique personalities from each other
that is as simple as no two people live the same life and no two peoples thought proccess is exactly the same. nothing more.

No that is the flaw in humans.
Hospitals and Graveyards are full of the evidence that the human body was created by an incompetent who got everything only half right.
No body or being could be that inept.

no kidding lol I think nature is already against us and our lives are very fragile. 1 super volcano OR meteor away from extinction, any given second the show could be over.
Who cares?
Not many people do in the USA. As a nation we are so rich we dont need a light at the end of the tunnel, we are not dependant on religion to live a good life because we have outstanding morals compared to many poor countries where they breed like rats and live in filth and eat dirt to quiet there stomachs.

So I care.

I despise the fact that religion, mans imagination has such a strong hold on humanity and in the past has held science back.

who knows where we would be without sheep herder myths in our way of real beliefs

Its much much more then that doug.

if you dont do the research and you dont know the facts because you dont want to. Doesnt chaneg the fact YOU still dont know.

It doesnt mean THEY dont know because THEY do,, as do all the other brilliant minds in our time.

Thats a key word, we dont have to many brilliant minds doing anything usefull that dont believe in evolution.

Even Einstein believed in God of some kind, I would safely say his mind was a little more advanced than yours or mine.

Even Einstein believed in God of some kind
Wrong.

"It was the experience of mystery -- even if mixed with fear -- that engendered religion." - Albert Einstein

"I cannot imagine a God who rewards and punishes the objects of his creation, whose purposes are modeled after our own -- a God, in short, who is but a reflection of human frailty. Neither can I believe that the individual survives the death of his body, although feeble souls harbor such thoughts through fear or ridiculous egotisms." - Albert Einstein, obituary in New York Times, 19 April 1955

"I do not believe in immortality of the individual, and I consider ethics to be an exclusively human concern with no superhuman authority behind it." - Albert Einstein, 1954, from Albert Einstein: The Human Side, edited by Helen Dukas and Banesh Hoffman, Princeton University Press
_ _ _ _ _ _ _
There are no gods, no devils, no heaven nor hell. Those are only figments of the magnificent Human Imagination -- just like Santa Claus, Easter Bunnies, Frankenstein and firebreathing dragons. They were imagined into 'existence' by understandably frightened or confused early humans, for no other reason than to furnish comforting (therefore popular, though incorrect) explanations for random misfortunes -- and other mysteries misunderstood or misdefined.

Imagine that wasn't how it was and you may as well imagine the Earth is flat.

We know nothing about [God, the world] at all. All our knowledge is but the knowledge of schoolchildren. Possibly we shall know a little more than we do now. but the real nature of things, that we shall never know, never. (The Expanded Quotable Einstein, Princeton University Press, Page 208)

Did Einstein believe in God?

Yes. He defined God in an impersonal, deistic fashion, but he deeply believed that God’s handiwork was reflected in the harmony of nature’s laws and the beauty of all that exists. He often invoked God, such as by saying He wouldn’t play dice, when rejecting quantum mechanics. Einstein’s belief in something larger than himself produced in him a wondrous mixture of confidence and humility. As he famously declared: “A spirit is manifest in the laws of the Universe – a spirit vastly superior to that of man, and one in the face of which we with our modest powers must feel humble. In this way the pursuit of science leads to a religious feeling of a special sort.”

When asked directly if he believed in God, he always insisted he did, and explained it once this way: “We are in the position of a little child entering a huge library filled with books in many languages. The child knows someone must have written those books. It does not know how. It does not understand the languages in which they are written. The child dimly suspects a mysterious order in the arrangement of the books but doesn’t know what it is. That, it seems to me, is the attitude of even the most intelligent human being toward God. We see the universe marvelously arranged and obeying certain laws but only dimly understand these laws.”

Who's to say that some being isn't "creating" us right now?
Maybe time means something completely different to them.

Albert Einstein did not believe in the existence of gods, as those quotes from later in his life confirm.

When faced with the insane retributions of Fable Thumpers who often held the purse strings which funded his and his colleague's research, like others before and after him, he placated those insane believers with occasional comments specifically designed to keep the funds flowing. Bright man.
