if you make $35000 a year and your trying to get a loan for $300000, it does not take a genius to figure out you cant afford it. Agreed, the lenders are deceptive and taking advantage of no regulation, and, will try to get you the loan. The last time i checked nobody held a gun to my head to buy a house. the ultimate responsibility lays with the individual signing the paper work. if you're to dumb to figure out you can't afford something...it's your own damn fault.
Sales people are always trying to sell, it's thier job, they are the bottom feeding scum of the job sector, but the buyer has the ultimate control...just say no.

There is 2 sides to that whole loan thing everyone got in trouble with. If your not qualified, the lender should be denying you, not giving the money!!!

exactly why there has to be some kind of regulation in place and Clinton and his buddies removed many of those when they promised to make "home ownership available to all Americans". It started there, period. Bwanny Fwank and his buddy Dodd kept reforms from going into place which would've stopped that bubble. I saw people with part-time jobs getting 200k mortgages left and right.

I love ignorant stereotypical remarks from stupid people with challenged IQ's, like this one.
Sales people are always trying to sell, it's thier job, they are the bottom feeding scum of the job sector
when I go to buy something, I want to talk to someone that knows about said product, home or car and then I make up my mind.

same could be said for lawyers, up until the day you need one

I was a unit operator for 13 years for a electric power plant. Off work now for about 6 months. With all of the auto & steel plants shut down the need for whe down the company downsized.

that part seems a bit harsh.

I have been looking for a job since March.
I have applied to upwards of 700 jobs and have landed only a handful of interviews. It is really tough out in the job market today.
Most of my past experience is related to construction.
Well we don't have much construction in SoCal now. The little there is is public works jobs.
The wife has a good job but I am contributing from savings to pay everything and that is almost gone. I read that the housing market will not straighten out for another 3 - 5 years. I could be dead by then.
I don't think it could get worse, it has to get better.

Thanks, TheWoodCrafter

my comment came across a little broad wich was meant to be more specific. don't worry my comment was not aimed at you or the other guys you mentioned. I 'm talking about lenders/sales people in the housing, loan industry that have had a major hand in contributing to where we are now. i see how someone, reading what i said, putting into one basket and thinking i was attacking every single person that in sales. i know some people outside of this hobby that are sales people in the above mentioned areas and i can tell you they are bottom feeding scum, thats my stance...ain't changing it.

You might want to put your anger against these people onto the law makers in DC that created laws to force them to make loans to people that cannot pay those loans back. Its not rocket science.

phil,

it is what it is.(it's kinda like you say union workers are bad...we have one)

dennis.

"hi i'm joe borrower and i'de like to take out a huge loan"

"hi i'm joe lender/sales and i'm going to approve you even though i know you have absolutley no way of paying this loan back, but i don't really care, because i'm getting paid " this conversation is going on while the law maker/banker is standing next to him with a gun pointed at his head telling him he must work in this career field no matter how unmoral it is. all this did not happen over night, but dammit the money good, don't get me wrong the law makers are just as bad especialy for "making" them do it.

yes, i read the same artical, what it realy said was the imaculate conception would be between a sales guy and a member of management, and it would be the union member filming it because management would not have the intelligence to operate the camera. the off spring would indeed be the antichrist and would start selling bad loans to stupid people and the world will look as it does...O' wait, that already happened.
