I bought the HC3d for the same reason you want it.I ended up flying higher to learn and returned, it wasn't for me.I bought a sim instead.
It can be a lil tricky to get set up, but it does work
for the $$ there are other options available
such as the sk720 or microbeast, certain FBL systems can be used to stabilize your heli and if you decide to go FBL you can with out additional cost

?
you know just buy a good amount of spare parts for your heli ,throw on the training gear ,and practice . the side effect from the rebuilding will be a better understanding of your heli.

i bought a hc3d thinking it would help ,but i ended up selling it and using the cash to buy spare parts for my trex 600e/500,and just learned to fly .

just my 2cents - but if u really want electronic stabilization go with a fbl unit -see whats being used at your local field so that you'll have help setting it up.

Once the HC is setup properly it is very much worth the price... it is the best stabilization platform out there... tons of options... they are mainly used for scale for multibladed setups but also for AP...but ive seen people use them for what your wanting...I know a guy that has one on every heli he owns and let me tell you he has several several helis...

If you dont want to get a simulator and just practice... or just cant get the hang of it then these are a good option. They will allow you to get into scale or ap later as mentioned... Just cause the other guys gave up at programming doesnt mean they arent worth it.

But yes, its an expensive investment.

kinda wish i had kept it cause i would be flying a fbl trex 600e right now ,instead of saving up for the total g.

I thought about getting one of those units a while back, but never got around to it. I think that general flying about you dont really need it...but then again if you goof up and cant tell which way the heli is headed it must be good to be able to let go the stick and have the heli right itself.

Dunno...its your cash and your call.

Quality takes........time!
