Anyone flying this system on their Velocity?

Looking at the model and others flying the Total G looks like the way to go is to cut the top braces and mount the unit on the upper servo tray

What parts are required to convert from standard head to flybarless?

A complete set is £98 which includes everything but do you need it all?

Can I just get the headblock, grip arms, swash driver and links or do I need the complete set?

Cheers all

I had the beastx on my velocity until recently as I've got a total g now. The beastx flew great straight out of the box and I really enjoyed flying it. The total g I think has a lot more potential but after 5 tanks trying to dial it in I'm still not enjoying it yet.

Very high, very fast, too much money, no you cant have a go!

Thanks for your replies guys.

Very helpful.

Looks like the head conversion should be cheaper than I thought. Is the flybaless head lower? I notice there is three holes to mount it on the mainshaft.

Interested about the Total G vs beastX experience adampatrick. How did you find the feel compared to flybar? Sound like the beastx is nice.

Where did you mount the sensor?

Does a standard spindle fit the flybarless head or do I need the flybarless spindle and mainshaft?

Does a standard spindle fit the flybarless head or do I need the flybarless spindle and mainshaft?
The following parts are needed to upgrade the standard head to exactly the same spec as the full flybarless head:

http://www.fast-lad.co.uk/store/r50...lis-p-7622.html

I found out the following while researching before the upgrade:
1 . the main shafts and spindles are exactly the same.
2 . The head is lower as this helps the heli fly around its centre during rolls, the lower holes roll cleaner but there is a higher chance of boom strike. I'm happy with the rolls in the bottom hole i.e highest tallest head.
3 . You can actually use the standard head block if you remove the washout guide pins and use longer pushrods, but for the price of the flybarless head I bought it anyway.
4 . Here is the manual's link , comes in handy as you only get it with the full head kit https://www.helidirect.com/upload/F...050N_Rev_04.pdf
5 . I didnt actually buy the stock pushrods, you can make your own from any spare links of the right length.

I think they are the main points I wanted to address before I committed. From the little experience I have had flying flybarless I really enjoy them. The beast x feels really good, inspires confidence in fact, if i had to describe what its like I would say its more like the feel of a simulator. The heli feels like it does what you tell it more than with a flybarred heli.

At the moment I havent had a chance to fully dial in the total g. Its getting there and it feels like it has a lot of potential. In comparison to the beast x I would say from the initial flights it is more crisp and the tail is definately better as its basically a solid g gyro which is proven. Having said that the beatsx holds very well and flew almost right straight out of the box while the total g takes a lot more programming (this can be seen as an advantage though as the total g is totally customizable eg you dont get left and right stop optimization on the beast x etc.)

Both very good units in my eyes, total g will more than likely beat the beast x once I've got to grips with it but it should be its almost twice the price!

Very high, very fast, too much money, no you cant have a go!

Hi Adampatrick,

Thanks for taking the time to write such a comprehensive reply.

I was considering going flybarless on my Trex500 first but now I am convinced that the Velocity would be a nice machine to convert first. Partly because I cannot get my CSM720 to work well on the machine and thanks to your input because the conversion is so cheap.

I hear what you saying about the total G and will be getting one for another machine in the future but fancy the BeastX on the 50.

Does the beast X give consistant piros and a good lock on the tail?

Also where did you mount your units? Did you cut the frames and mount it ontop of the servo frames.
