They say you're supposed to but I upgraded my 500 to 2.1 and didn't re due the setup in any way shape or form. Flew perfectly!

There is a very fine line between "hobby" and "mental illness."

Hey.

Yes, you will need to go through the setup again as performing a firmware upgrade wipes the 3G's settings back to default.
Now default might mean all is working in the correct sense depending on how the sensors orientated in the model, but it could be wrong.

To be safe spend 10 minutes now going through the setup again and you'll safe guard the model.

Hey lightnigrc, you have to go through the setup again, for sure. You should only have to check ya gyro directions, and stuff, cause it all should be pretty close, and your subtrims should not change , through the upgrade. Certain stuff doest get reloaded or whatever, unless ya setup again. I found this out trying to set 760 for the tail, without a resetup.

HTH.

By the way... 2.1 is the cat own a$$ I can prioflip my 700 on the deck like i used to with the FB. sik upgrade

Hey Martin.

When you say the pitch was workign in the wrong direction you're talking about the collective pitch? If this is the case then you not going through the 3G's setup again did not cause the problem.
Reason being the direction of collective pitch travel is setup by the user in the first stage of the 3G programming, which is DIR mode and any changes to direction of collective pitch is then set through the transmitters swashplate mix parameters and is not controlled/altered/set in the Align 3G.
It is only the elevator and aileron gyro directions and limits which are set and controlled by the 3G.

Are you confident it isn't one of the cyclic gyro's which were reveresed? The latter will bring an abrupt stop to any flying

Just this morning I've reflashed V2.1 to my 550E and changed a few settings at the same time, so I've just gone through the whole setup process again to be sure. Checked gyro directions lots of times and will do again before I lift off to be 100% sure

Hi Ian,Thanks for your reply, all three cyclic servos and tail servo where working in the correct direction with individual inputs it was the pitch that was not working e\g not up or down,it flew finr for about 2\3minutes then just came down it took three or foury repluging of the battery before pitch worked up-down again.
Many thanks for your time.

Martin.

Hey Martin.

No worries your very welcome.

Ah I'm with you now buddy, the collective pitch was working but stopped in flight. That doesn't sound good, how new is the 3G unit?
It sounds like a fault has developed somewhere and could do with further investigation.

Just a quick thing to check yourself before taking it bac to the shop, have you looked at the connecting lead from gyro sensor to main unit? Some of these it seems left the factory with a wrongly inserted connecting pin, I had one on my 700N which gave me a fright. If you remove yours have a look to see that all four pins can be seen clipped into the plastic plug housing, on mine there was a difference on one only and on removing it I found it was bent.

Other than this idea it's a return job to be safe I feel.
