About 3min info my first flight this morning a guy watching me fly said I lost something. I was just entering the 3rd consecutive roll and I heard the blade noise change but the heli didn't fly any different really. So I came screaming in and landed without issue. Once the head slowed down some it had a BAD imbalance ... yup one paddle was missing! The guy that saw it come off went out and found it! Go orange paddles!

Anyhow it is totally useless of course but at least I got to see where it snapped off ... right at the base of the threads of course, right where the last one did. The paddle was screwed all the way on, so there was right at 1/8" of smooth shaft in the paddle (now there is a 1/8" hole down to the snapped off threaded part in the busted paddle).

I find this unacceptable, as I have never seen any other flybar do this. Not only does this little incident cost me $10 but I also couldn't fly anymore. It also is really hard on the washout base and loosens the bolts on the washout arms from the bad imbalance. I know I am not the only one that has had this problem. I blame the MSH for making a weak part.

MSH please fix this problem.

Here is a pic of the broken flybar. It did indeed snap off at the last thread just like my other one. Also notice the 1/8" in of shiny shaft showing that the paddle was screwed on all the way.

For some stupid reason the Protos flybars have a cut thread as opposed to a rolled thread which most other manufactures use and is much stronger. There is an easy fix of course, buy an Align, Mikado, Hirobo flybar that will fit.

The BEAM 450. ( No its not too short to fly on the protos)
Works great!

Even faster on the cyclic. Its also hardened!

What I used before going FBL

2mm? Isn't that a 450 size flybar? If so then they might be a bit short for a Protos. You could simply get some 2mm rod and use paddles that use grub screws to fix them in place, even dremel a slight flat for the grub screw to fit in. You could have what ever length flybar you like then! 800mm?

I Have had a Protos for quite some time now.
I have only ever snapped 1 flybar.
I did that by screwing the paddle on too far, and basically twisting the end of the flybar off.
Mine always had some thread showing. (Im FBL now)

So perhaps your having the same thing happen?

For the love of the hobby
