Ok so ive watched Smacktalk videos about packing your heli, but im wondering about the nitro on the heli getting past TSA.

Im gonna clean the heli of fuel residue, disassemble for packing and clean some more. Do I need to flush the tank and muffler with alcohol? I'm gonna clean everything real well with alcohol, is this enough? Also im gonna pack it in checked baggage with parts and tools. At the XFC I brought a 450 and had to mail back a tool because it was too long for carry on, even though the heli was broke down with TX and other parts. That was fine, one tool was too long. Over 12in I think?

So im thinking of packing just about everything well in checked baggage and let them take it.

Thoughts?

I don't think you'll have any problems.
My friends flew over from Europe for a fun fly, one of the guys never cleans his nitro, only if he puts it in, even than he just gets a can of brake cleaner spray and sprays it all over

So if they let that thing trough, i'm sure you'll have no issues.

I wouldn't go to those lenghts like cleaning the tank and all that

Fly it like you stole it!!!

just packed mine last night, semi wiped it down, flush tank and reinstalled, left pipe on I should be fine, make sure you pack it so when tsa opens to inspect ( i am sure they will) stuff will stay in place because you know they will just move crap around and not put it back then shut it. I also made sure I was around 40lbs to be safely under the 50lb limit

Two years ago I flew with my TRex 600N. All I did was flush the tank and the fuel lines with alcohol. I then wrapped the tank in Styrofoam and put it in separately. Had no issues. TSA did inspect it as I did get the TSA card.
