gyro gain is higher then possible 65% with spektrum/22% true gain
i use ds520 not jr3500, but it is the same
nothing wrong on the setup, what could be wrong, it's simple do it
arm at 90°, rate mode and no drift on the tail in hover, then avcs, limit and rebind
correct framerate 1520 us, etc
new mechanic
everything new

Richard -- I posted his first thread again for you to read ;0) its only back 1 page hehe
The title is very simple, not like my problem
the little t rex 250 won't hold, the tail goes to right when i increase collective and goes to left when i release, nothing to do, it's frustrating, it moves about 30-40° from right to left in pitch pump.
Then don't stop well after negative pitch to positive, it kicks.
This behavior there was also from new, out of the box.
I use spartan quark with ds520, carbonon pushrod, 37mm batman blades, metal tail control arm, kevlar belt, stock motor and esc with 15T, 100% flat curve, gain is 63% with spektrum gear menu, i think too low, but if i increase tail start wagging after counterclockwise pyro stop, not clokwise. It isn't only a low gyro gain, but i don't know how to search, nothing vibrations, nothing binding, tail runs super smooth, good headspeed.
Why only my model won't hold ??
in little wind, also in hover, tail wags slowly and so much
but without wind in normal flight, it is solid
any opinion, everything you think in yuor mind, please say me
thanks for collaboration
Good luck Marrco

I reject your reality and substitute my own :0)

Thanks.

I see you are running 4mm or less on the servo arm? I once tried that and you cant get full travel on the tail as a result, the servo would have to travel about 180 degrees from left to right limit. 4.5mm would be the shortest I would use, I use 5.5mm and the servo moves just over 90 degrees from left to right limit.

Could you possibly post a video of the problem?

the blades are align original carbon
just tried 5mm servo horn, full travel and correct limit end to end, little butter but not sufficiente

It could be possible that you have selected the wrong servo type on setup? Default setting is good for most servos.

Is your esc set as default bec voltage (5.5v)?

no, the ds520 run at 1520 333hz
a violet flash on the quark

the strange thing for me is the gain, most of you have 30% atv
i have only 20-22% of true gain with futaba conversion
but is the limit

my esc is at 6v

all I am new to this forum but I too have the same problem with the tail. I went to my LHS and got help from an expert heli flyer. He said that the 250 generates a lot of force from the tail rotors. That and there is some play in the tail set up so the 2 commbined cause the prblem. If you hold it by the skids and crank up the throttle you will see just how much lift the little heli has! So his recomendation is to replace the ds420 servo with a standard size tail servo, replace the plastic servo mounts with the metal kind, replace the flimsy servo link with a CF version, cut the rotors down to 33mm and balance the heli. Finally he moved the tail servo about 2mm from the main frame om the boom.

The stock gyro is fine and so is the stock tail set.

Just thought I would give my 2 cents...

Forget what the gain atv value is! Decrease gain till wag stops (may still wag slightly after a hard piro stop from the left) that is your maximum gain!

6v is too high! All the later versions of the 250 come at 5.5v default, I think we have just found your problem! You could even try the 5v setting. You may have already damaged your tail servo running it on 6v.

Bladex, a standard size tail servo is way too big and heavy for the 250, you should use a Mini servo at the most and all those metal brackets and a carbon push rod will not improve the tail, the DS420 works fine and cutting the tail blades down to 33mm is ridiculous and will cause you more problems when your flying progresses, I use the 42mm tail blades and can do fast backwards hurricanes, funnels and 300ft tail slides with my stock setup!

60% of the time, it works every time!

ok my gain is set like you say
the ds520 works at 6v, why 5.5v can resolve my problem ??

i have tried john walsh mod, with two bearings and not washer, no more slop, but tail is bad

however i think the problem is in tail rotor structure, even if you don't have any issue

my tail blows out a little always, just a flip is so difficult

xblade, already tried all this mods
