Yeh. Sounds like a plan. I do miss tinkering with different motors gears . Batteries sure went leaps and bounds since I did alot of tinkering.

Never used simi blades in 9 years.

Man. Y'all like starting fires I see
not really sure what do you mean by this? any decent ESC will run a governor at low throttle %, if you look at the beginning of this topic, I'm running 32% governor on my ESC with a head speed of 960 RPM, and have flown it for 31 minutes none stop on 10S Lipo, I did not see any fire, and that was 19 months ago, since then, I have been flying like this nearly every weekend, never had any problem, and a Kontronik Jive will definitely not have any problem running on low throttle setting.

in general using higher voltage and lower AMP is better then lower voltage with higher AMP,
but at part throttle on higher volts to nearly full throttle at lower voltage, I guess it will not be the same, but since I have never done it, so maybe your right on this.
will need to try it and compare it to be certain.

thanks for the input. I have heard they give more lift but if there is no real time advantage I will stick to the Symmetrical blades.

I only need one!

Yeh! I understand what you saying George , but from my expirences I have swelled up alot of packs at low gov, I don't know why this happen but it does, You know this reminds me of a test that was done from min air. (MA) on the ion back in 2005. 14s14p with a 32-4 and some big blades. Turning a 800 hs and lifting around 30 lbs , I forgot what the flight time was but he was running very close to wide open throttle ,
So yeh. Hv and the correct gearing close to 100% throttle. Well like 80 or above is better, but you would need a gear train like the old ion x 2. 2 stage. And also the correct most efficient ratio in the first stage for best results
Your gearing and low gov might work. But it ain't right

the jive low gov is for f3c hovering. its been used every other way and it doesnt hurt packs at 40%

havent gone below that, but i have a dozen 10s packs that were fine with it.

I am moving in the same basic direction here. I just bought a Logo 600 and I plan on running it as a soft 3D capable machine with a headspeed range between 1200 to 1800. I want to use the electronics from my TRex 550: ESC is a Jive 100LV, motor is an Xera 4020-2Y (1,000 Kv) and I am using Hyperion 5000 mah 6S packs at 35C. I will be using 600mm blades and I plan on using the Mod 0.7 gears (153T main).

With a 12 tooth pinion I get a gear ratio of 12.75:1 and that seems to give a good RPM range while still keeping the throttle above 60%. The numbers look like this: 1200 HS @ 15,300 RPM @ 61% / 1500 HS @ 19,125 RPM @ 76.5% / 1800 HS @ 22,950 RPM @ 92%.

With a 13 tooth pinion I get a gear ratio of 11.77:1 and this keeps throttle above 50%. Here are the numbers: 1200 HS @ 14,124 @ 56.5% / 1500 HS @ 17,655 @ 70.5% / 1800 HS @ 21,186 RPM @ 85%

I am leaning toward the 12 tooth to keep the ESC and motor in a more efficient high RPM range with lots of torque headroom available. These values do not factor in any of the electrical efficiency variables and this is where I'd like some educated opinions to steer me towards the optimal pinion. Keep in mind, the Hyperion 6S packs are easy to unsolder and separate the pack into two 3S in one 6S sized pack.

Really interesting stuff you guys are doing with this. I just started flying a Mikado Logo 600 and noticed I had plenty of battery left after flying for 5 Min. at a 1900 HS with 10S 4300 packs. Now I have increased the flight time to 8 Min. and love the additional time and really enjoyed just flying around and doing graceful 3D. I'm going to build an EFP Heli so I can enjoy it even more and I'll look forward to the reactions I get at the flying field. I have if anybody is Interested, a new in the box Mikado 500 Flybar kit for sale. Everything is new in the box nothing ever opened. If anybody is interested make me an offer please.
