Trying to see how much interest there would be in a heli only club in the D/FW area.I for one would love to have one,and if enough interest is shown I would be willing to do the legwork to see about leasing some land at a very reasonable cost, getting a structured leadership built up,getting it started up,but first I need to see if there's enough interest to make it worthwhile,so speak up and be heard.

I do'nt crash,I just rearrange parts.

Kinda depends where . . . . I would have some interest, but my home club is very heli friendly, so wouldn't drive too far for it . . . and there appears to be pretty much nothing up on my side of the Metroplex . . .

I'm with Tim. It would depend on where it was at, and what the cost would be.

Have you been to the I-190/Renner field on Saturday/Sunday mornings? That seems to be the most heli-centric location I have yet found. I'll show you the place if you don't know where it is.

I used to fly at Renner when I was a planker. I have not been out there in a long time. Glad to hear they are still there. I fly at the Luna spot now. Much closer to home. I should wander back out to Renner some time and see who is out there still.

I'm a member of the 114th too, and they are fantastic! If you are in the Southlake area, you need look no further!

My main interest here is something closer, that's all . . .

Can you give a better description of the 635/Luna field? Is this an organized club, or just some people who show up at a vacant lot?

Luna is a big empty field. No club there. I guess I could stick up an easy up, and start collecting dues

there is a sign that was put up a couple months ago that it will become some type of housing or apartment complex, so not sure how long it will last, but it is a great place to fly and the cops love it.

Mc Kinney club is nice just a big field, very secluded, mostly heli guys.

If there was a heli only club, here in the NE part of the metroplex, I would be all in, convenience is paramount. If the club was in Ft Worth or Arlington it might as well be in China...sans cheap batteries.

I dont always fly helis, but when I do, I prefer Outrage. The most interesting man in the world

That would be the west side of luna, and yes, that is also great place to fly. nothing to hit except the the Race Track gas station but they are cool with that

DFW is such a large area, so it would be nice to have a place kind of in the middle so everyone could get together and fly sometimes, 114th is about the most central, but it is kind of small and can be restrictve, plus, you add the plankers and it just "plane" sucks at times.

Greater Southwest
I was a member there at GS for two years. They treat heli pilots like second class citizens and take a look at their event calender for any given year: NOT A SINGLE HELI EVENT LISTED.

I do'nt crash,I just rearrange parts.
