I'm really want to set up a AP ship. My question is, Can I use my R90se nitro or do I really need an electric? What are the pros/cons besides fuel?

I want to use my JVC GZ-HD3U. I already have some eagle tree components and would like to set it up with a down link and GPS. I love this HD cam since it uses a hard drive and card.

Can any of the pros give any tips?

I know a guy that would trade me a gasser but I hate the smell of that type of fuel. hahaha

Thanks in advance

Some will tell you to do it while others will say no. I started with nitro doing AP, but got tired of the smoke getting in the shots and the oil getting all over my camera. I am much happier with my Trex600. Again, it can be done. Do a search and see how others handled it.

What I know is that the best on this business use nitro, Flyingcam and Copterfilms

Don't bother using the hard drive - stick to a card (or tape). Search this forum for problems with HDDs.

CC85HV is fine... not the best choice though it works.. I fly a CC85HV on my stretched Trex 600-700 with 12S... the GOV is useless.. you have to use curves with the CC85HV...

Flys fine without the GOV enabled... Electric has so much torque thats its fly great and is easy to set it up with curves...

I am interested in more info on the Sherline you got! 3 Axis? is it manual or stepper drive?

Yup, It's 3 axis running on 300 oz steppers. I need to fix my controller I think I blew something. It's also got handles and could run it manually like a conventional mill. What do you need to know?
There are pictures in my gallery of some of the parts I have made on it.

Thanks for the info though.

Nice..
I checked out your parts very cool.. are those frame stiffeners?

So did you get the Sherline 3 axis manual mill then add the steppers and controller yourself?

what is the table size?

I have been wanting to get or build a cnc mill for a while... just seems like so many options and choices I get confused with the whole thing..

drives me crazy. LOL

Hey, I did add my own motors and soldered up the controller from cnchobby. It was a fun project and it's functional as well.

Table 18X8 12" height. I have a couple of extensions where I can extend the head away from the main post 6". So it's pretty versatile.

I started with a home made router that I build from wood and have only used a few times. Only when I need something under 12x24" cutting plastic, carbon fiber and wood only.

Yup those are stiffeners. About 1/3 the weight of the originals. Purely aesthetics.

AP Machine
OK, Back to subject...

Anybody ever see a pendulum type camera fixture?

I'm new to AP so I haven't really been paying attention since I started flying helis and don't really know what kind of results to expect.

Where it swings as the heli tilts side to side and front to back
(on a ball) keeping the camera parallel to the horizon. I think it would be less expensive than hooking up gyros and servos to accomplish somewhat the same thing. Probably a weight saver too.

What do you gentlemen think?
