I'm not quite convinced if I should really pay $220 just for a crimper after reading a few threads including this (https://rc.runryder.com/t185679p1/?...nderson+crimper). I'm looking for an easier alternative to the Deans ultra, and the Anderson powerpole does not require soldering, and also the connectors are easier to disconnect than the Deans.

If I don't want to pay $219.19 http://www.powerwerx.com/tools-mete...-powerpole.html what would be my best reasonably priced alternative? It can be a genuine Anderson brand, or can be a clone by another brand, I don't care as long as it works decent.

This is $39.99 http://www.powerwerx.com/tools-mete...e-contacts.html Why the 1st one is much more expensive at $219.19 than the 2nd one of $39.99? Does $220 make it that much easier to do the job than 39.99?

I also read about and considered EC3, EC5 and so on. What I uniquely like about the Anderson Powerpole is that I don't have to solder to install the connectors.

You should just practice soldering - a good soldered connection will beat any crimp hands down..

Agree - a soldered joint is much more secure and a bit lower resistance if done right. I also prefer connectors which are tighter to connect on the ground rather than loose in the air

Getting the right wattage soldering iron really helps with larger leads. I use a really cheap 50W soldering station and it heats up 6mm bullets and 6mm sq. leads (8ish awg) without too much fuss.

I use APPs and crimp because a crimped connection is superior to a soldered connection.
