No Dave, it differs in many aspects, not least its obvious the original is fixed pitch, and this one is collective!

You're all missing the obvious...
Says right on the canopy what it is: "Angel"

Based on the Japanese registration number, I say it's a Japanese manufacture from the late 1970's. The frames have a Heliboy flavor and that tail rotor drive is unique.

Other than that, it's a mystery to me.

Looks like a pair of old Morleys. Morley did make some pod and boom helicopter. I think this was their 40 size.

As the canopy says it is an Angel helicopter which was a UK homebuild designed by would you believe, Tim Angel. It was a development of the Micro-Mold lark as can be seen be the u/C and bottom nose piece; crossed with the design principle of the Heli-Baby for twin metal fuselage layout and the tail rotor control principle. Had a few unique design features of its own though; check out the Tail rotor drive.

I have notes on it but until now no pictures which is why it has not been on my vrhc web site. Will be by tonight though.

It was reported to have been a good flyer and given the popularity of the Heli-Baby would have sold well. Why it was not taken up I have no information and devloped into a collective version? Well!!! Another missed opportunity by the UK in the 70's.....

Most 'boot' that I missed the auction.......

Joe.
