well you guys know if you have been in the hobby long enough you see many different funny things happen in it,, like a guy flying a 20 year-old BiWing and the top Wing flies-off in flight and the guy get's the plane down successfully without crashing it LOL, yeeaa that happened to one of our Club Members LOL,, but it's really the story below I wanted to tell but forgot to post,,

well here for this other story we were asked last year to come fly at another Club's Site so I went and I brought 2 Plane Engines to sell,,

Engine A is an older NIB K&B 40 (#1140 as I remember/if that number is correct),
Engine B is a older but never started 22cc Super Tartan (Glow),,

well I had both Engines on a table with a For Sale sign and as the time came around 12-noon people started walking around more, well one 60ish man walks up and looks at my 2 Engines and he said (quote) "that K&B is a great little Engine but I wouldn't give you a $1 for that Super Tartan",, (see where I'm going here guys ???),, now literally 2 minutes later another 60ish man walks up to my table (and you got to know what he said !!!), yes, yes, he says (quote) "that Super Tartan is a really good Engine but that K&B is junk" ,,,

now isn't that funny ??

moral of the story, "that's the Hobby"

NOW anybody want to buy a Super Tartan 22cc Glow Engine ??? the K&B has been sold

Yeah, that's a good one.
I get that all the time, especially in this hobby. One person tells me one thing, and then another tells me the exact opposite. "that's the hobby" explains it well.

You know that ole saying Jim " Ones mans junk is another mans treasure" Most sensible folks would throw what I like to fly straight into the trash barrel

That trash-barrel spot landing was fantastic, and I bet that couldn't be done if you actually tried.

Fantastic, and yet I hope the heli came out somewhat repairable.

Only a spindle and mainblades GM, it landed in a pillow of empty water bottles.

Well, that is good to hear that the damage was minimal. Sounds like you had a bit of a chuckle out of it.

I had a somewhat similar one last year with my Blade 400, doing back and forth stall turns across my property. With each leg I got a little higher with each down leg faster and lower. I have a small wall along side my driveway and was skimming right over the top of it. As you might guess, I was about 4 inches too low on one pass, and was actually laughing and calling myself a dumb a$$ a split second before I hit the wall. There was just nothing I could do. The canopy shattered to the extent that it looked like an explosion. Besides the canopy, that one cost me the typical main shaft/spindle/blades but that was it.

Still doesn't beat your spot landing. That was great!
