I use a tray from Madison Components.

I am a "pincher" flyer and this tray, with the arm rests works great for me. Plus my DX7 fits perfectly on it.

That tray in the picture is definitely a pincher tray. I'd like to find a nice thumb flier tray so that I can wrap my hands around the back of the TX, but for now a neckstrap works pretty well. A tray definitely helps with precision.

i start off with the tx flat and as my knees knock and
while I'm pinching the sticks i end up at times looking like I'm trying to play a guitar.

I use the following tray.

Does a good job I can either use the pinch method with the tray unsuppported or support the tray since it so thin.

Hmmm.. I've always wanted to try one but I hold the TX all over the place not in the same position all the time, so I don't even have a neckstrap.
Plus I pinch on collective and thumb on cyclic...I guess these are just not for me
