Recently bought a Kontronik Jive 120+ HV (Power Jive) including the progdisc after I saw on their Progdisc page:

"Additionally, the PROGDISC serves as interface to your PC. Transfer of data between ESC and PC is possible via using the PROGDISC. This makes the PROGDISC the programming unit for updating the ESC software. The ESC does not need to be sent in any longer."

As the Progdisc manual was not available on their site I asked them to mail it.
In their initial answer they included the manual and also wrote that only the KOBY would be online updateable!!
Wrote them back asking whether their most expensive Jive would be updateable as well refering to the text above.
The answer was that the Jive wasn't online updateable because of its hardware and no further updates were planned.
They should have mentioned this explicitely on their Progdisc page
Just wanted to share this so you know how they operate at Kontronik.

Yes from what I understand the Program disc for the Jives is to replace both Program card 1 and Program card 2, which combined there are many settings etc that can be changed. The Koby line that was develeoped to replace the Jazz mid voltage line are entirely different hardware from the Jive as well from my understanding.

Well the place to mention it would be the product's page right?
And there it clearly says "This makes the PROGDISC the programming unit for updating the ESC software. The ESC does not need to be sent in any longer."

On their Progdisc page they now added: "Please refer to the respective manual whether or not your ESC is online updateable."
This should have been there when they introduced this Progdisc page.
Then I would have consulted the Jive manual and would have found out that it is not updateable.

I am sorry if I offend you in anyway for saying this, but you should have done your own research before buying. However, I do agree that kontronik should have made it clearer to people who don't read forums or manuals.

IMO, since you have already bought it, maybe you should try running it. The simplicity and governor performance of the jive is really the best we can get. Updates are for ESCs that don't work out of the box. The jive simply works as it is. Try it, you will not be disappointed.

No mate, not offended at all.
I'm just expressing my opinion and so do you.
If the text on the Progdisc site would have been slightly unclear I would have asked around, Googled, called them or sent an email.
To me it was clear, this device would be able to update/upgrade the Jive.
It's for a good reason they changed the text on the Progdisc site 1 or 2 days ago after I had some email exchange with them.

Here is what they just sent me.
Thank you for your e-mail. At following homepage you'll find KONTRONIK licensed Dealer in the USA

http://www.kontronikusa.com/dealers.html

You can use the PROGDISC to programm your JIVE and JAZZ ESCs with the PROGDISC, because of the configuration of PROGCARD & PROGCARD II but
only KOBY ESCs are online updateable because of their different Hardware.
Unfortunately the Hardware of the JIVE ESCs is not online update capable and an Hardware-Upgrade is not possible.

Please do not hesitate to contact us if you have any question.

Kind regards from Rottenburg

So the Version 7 is the final firmware update for the Jive series? There will be no V8?

I am sure down the road there will be updates, but currently as to what I know as well version 7 is in fact the most recent.
