so i've been looking into getting a new cano for my 600CF and it seems that there are alot more options for 600 nitro cano's vs the 600E cano's not to mention the shape of a 600 nitro is nicer looking.

has anyone ever put a 600nitro cano on their electric? did you have to modify anything?

Who cares... its just money...

I do know that the nitro bird is a little bit wider than the electric bird. I know there is a nice canopy for a 600e in the classified section.

It's a complex, costly, glow powered anti-gravity machine!

if the nitro canopy is wider then just get some nitro canopy mounts that are longer and your set... then all you will have to do is explain to everybody why a nitro has no smoke lol

You need to look around more, there are lots of good canopies for both!

The way the servos are setup in the E is backwards to the N so you might have issue there, trying to get one to work on the other!

mine is the 600cf kit so its the old frames with 3 bearing block and the anti rotation on the back just like a 500 or 450. and he is right the servo's are mounted up top and swing back to the levers rather than being mounted lower like on the esp

Trevor,

That canopy looks great.
I had a spare canopy for my 600E that I was lanning to paint. The fair was in town and one of the booths had this guy that painted these cool futuristic pictures with planets and galaxies. I wish I had video taped it, but I didn't. Anyways, I had him paint the canopy for my 600 e and it turned out awesome. I sent in a couple of pictures and it was in RC Heli magazine last summer. The guy used cans of Krylon, a couple of plastic caps, crinkled up news paper and a lighter. He sprayed on a couple of contrasting colors on-top of eachother and dabbed it with the crinkled up news paper to get the clouds on the planets. He used the lighter to dry the different layers of paint. I won't fly with this canopy unless it's just to get a couple of quick pictures.
I bet if you took a few pictures and sent it in, you could get a picture or two in the magazine.

Trevor,

If you haven't clear coated your canopy yet, make sure the clear is the same type of paint as the paint. If you use a lacquere clearcoat over a latex paint it will cause the latex to sag, drip and run. That would be horrible on such a nicely painted canopy.

i clear coated it with just a can of valspar hi gloss lacquer and i used acrylic enamel to paint with it. my only complaint is that for some reason the clear coat made some sharpie marker lines that i drew on before i even primed it decided to show up through everything so there are a few weird lines here and there but not major

i'll take another pic of it on the heli today. i made a flybarless decal i put on the yellow added to it a little bit.

now that im getting more of a feel for my airbrush and how the paint behaves i would be able to do a better job. or i could go the align route and paint the base color the window then just slap a digital graphic on and clear coat it. this is how my 450 pro cano and my 500 esp cano were both done
