I think if Obama sides against the law, he will loose.

I have not looked into Federal law on immigration. But, form what I hear, the new law in AZ mirrors the Federal law. If a state is pushed into a corner like AZ, they can enforce their own law.

This is going to be interesting to see how it pans out. The liberals are on the line on this one with the simple question being:

Who do you defend? The citizens of your own country, or the citizens of Mexico?

For the far left, thats a looser in my mind.

They only understand one thing fireplug:

How do I stay in power?

Our present government, by supporting illegal immigrants over running our borders have shown they have no other interest in mind because they HAVE TO HAVE those votes to stay in power. Even though they are sworn to protect us. Makes no difference to them.

Thats a looser for the far left. I hope they keep at it.

Dennis is right. The govt sees these as undocumented Democrats, not folks who have broken laws. The time to have fixed all this was 30 years ago. Tough road now.

Tough road now.
Very tough road. What may result?

Many things.

1) We just might see a leader come out of this. Someone who can actually defend US instead of citizens of another country.

2) We might see a different kind of ID that the left will fight against with everything they have. The reason they will have to do that is because if we ALL had ID that would identify us as US Citizens, the left would loose at the ballot box far more than they would have without those ID's.

3) The states would save millions upon millions on education costs, health care costs, law enforcement costs, etc, etc, etc, etc.

4) Unemployment would drop significantly in the US.

Others?

the left has removed the word illegal when referring to immigrants who are here in this country illegally.

They have not become 'undocumented workers'.

Go Arizona and I hope that other states will follow your lead.

The very idea that our federal government will not at least control the borders is so alien to me that I have hard time coming to grips with just how far we have sunk, along with all the other not in our best interests stuff that they are pulling. It is all so pitiful and sickening.

The Feds are about a useful as t i t s on a bore hog.
Except of course, they are expert at harassing citizens.

Illegal immigrants plan to leave over Ariz. law
Supporters of the law hope it creates jobs for thousands of Americans.

"We want to drive day labor away," says Republican Rep. John Kavanagh, one of the law's sponsors.

An estimated 100,000 illegal immigrants have left Arizona in the past two years as it cracked down on illegal immigration and its economy was especially hard hit by the Great Recession. A Department of Homeland Security report on illegal immigrants estimates Arizona's illegal immigrant population peaked in 2008 at 560,000, and a year later dipped to 460,000.

The law's supporters hope the departure of illegal immigrants will help dismantle part of the underground economy here and create jobs for thousands of legal residents in a state with a 9.6 percent unemployment rate.

Talk about some Liberal BS spin...

Hizzoner delivered the blunt message Wednesday as he criticized Arizona's harsh new anti-immigrant law.

I'd like to point out that this law is an anti-ILLEGAL-IMMIGRANT law!!!
Bloomberg said that because federal lawmakers have failed to tackle the thorny issue, lawmakers in states like Arizona have taken matters into their own hands.

what do lawmakers have to do in enforcing the law? If anything, they are stopping the enforcement of the law by not DEMANDING that the law is enforced. Arizona merely passed a STATE law that was the same as the FEDERAL law. The difference? They are going to ENFORCE the law!

partially correct. Arizona is enforcing their own state law. They aren't enforcing a federal law, they couldn't do that. They passed a state law that was a copy of the federal law. The difference is they are enforcing their passed law where as the feds are not.

I hear you man. With illegals permanently gone from Las Vegas, that would open up jobs such as landscaping, constructions, housekeeping and janitorial positions. I know a bunch of black and white folks who can't wait to get into the 110+ degree heat this summer and work under the sun.

Here is the list of other sates working on the same thing:

Utah
Georgia
Colorado
Maryland
Ohio
North Carolina
Texas
Missouri
Oklahoma
Nebraska

No doubt, that list is going to grow until the Federal government catches on. They probably won't with the present regime we have.

When President Obama condemned Arizona’s draconian and potentially unconstitutional immigration law last Friday, he predicted that “if we continue to fail to act [on immigration] at a federal level, we will continue to see misguided efforts to open up across the country.” Indeed, it’s already happening.

Last week, Wonk Room reported on the involvement of the Immigration Reform Law Institute (IRLI) — the legal arm of a designated nativist-extremist hate group — in drafting Arizona’s controversial immigration law. IRLI lawyer Michael Hethmon boasted about being “approached by lawmakers from four other states who have asked for advice on how they can do the same thing.” In the aftermath of the passage of Arizona’s law, many states and localities across the country are in fact in the middle of or
about to embark on copy cat pieces of legislation.
