I am interested in flying at CCRC during the week. How crowded is it during the day, say 10 AM to 2 PM as opposed to after work at about 5~7 PM ? Are there many heli flyers there ? Are there a bunch of old codgers that hate heli's ?

Only been there once, but trust me -> You will not be disaapointed with the field layout. The heli flyers have no contact at all with the fixed wingers (flying space that is).

Except that the heli side is way too small and the sun is in your face most of the day.

Come on out.

12 to 5 during the week is usually when I fly there (but not this week - transmitter was sent back to Horizon Service...) and you can expect 2 to 5 other heli pilots there during at that time. The weekends get more crowded.

The facilities are great, covered pit area with every other table having power outlets, real bathrooms and a clubhouse.

The heli side is a little tight for big-air stuff, but if you're practicing for XFC, feel free to use the airplane side which is much bigger. Other than that, we get on fine with the size.

The sun is much better this time of year, but the heli side is almost unusable between December and February.

The Club Board (almost) all fly helis and have started putting more money into the heli-side. As with any club, there are a couple of anti-heli guys, but they are getting better or going away.
