Hi guys,
I just sold all my JR stuff and came back to Futaba.. I was really liking my x9303 and was a little worried about liking the 8FGH.. Well, after setting up 2 heli's in the 8FG I think I'm getting the hang of it.. I never knew how many features this had..WOW! The more I learn about it the better it gets!!!

I got tired of the remote receivers, fragile antenna wires, ect... One time I turned everything on started up my 90 and it was sitting there ideling as nice as could be.. I stepped back with my radio getting ready to fly, and nothing was happening.. I moved the sticks and nothing! So there was a 90 size nitro running with NO control!! Pretty scary to me.. I think it had something to do with the radio being to close to the heli when I turned everything on..

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ I watched my friend with a new 9303 have the same thing happen to him. When he said "I must have been too close when I turned it on," I was happy to be a Futaba FAAST user.

me too
For some reason, my 9303 just stopped working after one year. I tried changing out the battery, but nothing worked. I lost several model memories because of the crash. I was going to send the radio back to JR for warranty repair, but I just decided to go back to Futaba as well, and I am quite happy. I have a 10chp and a 12chp FASST. I actually like the 10channle better for some reason. The 12 channel is almost a little too `loosey goosey' to use a technical term, whereas the 10 channel just feels better on the sticks, and I can navigate the menus a bit easier as well.

Hello, Peter. What's happening? We need to talk about your TPS reports

I'll convert back to Futaba "again" when they get some wider switch spacing that are more fitting for common hand sizes... Love the radios and all they have, hate the switch spacing.

IMHO, I think the 8fg is Futaba's hidden treasure. A whole lot of bang for the buck. I bought one when they first came out just as a backup in case my 10c every needed a tune up or what not. I now have all my models on the 8fg and use it instead of 10c. Dont get me wrong, the 10c is an awesome radio as well, but I just love the feel and programming methods on 8fg. I always been a futaba guy but did jump on the dx-7 band wagon when it first came out. After two "brown-out" crashes, it was back to futaba. I still question whether that problem has been truly fixed as just this past weekend a fellow flyer kept getting blinking lights on receiver even though it had a full battery charge and eagle tree never showed it below 5.2volts? Just weird things that make me uneasy.

OICU812, I weigh about 210. I have really not has issues with switch spacing. You are the only person I have heard that from. Did you try holding the radio differently? Pincher, or thumbs? I pinch, and rest my middle finger kind of off to the side, between the 2 switches. Not actually between them. I have no issues finding, flipping, or accidently flipping switches. You cannot expect a new radio to feel like a different brand you have used for years.

I had a boo-boo with the 8fg..
After useing the JR9303 for some time I think I hit the wrong switch on the radio..
I was thinking I hit the rudder d/r to speed up my piro's, but I hit the throttle hold instead... Me being a dumbazz activated the throttle hold in the radio but never adjusted the travel!!
So there I was about 25-30' up in a hover, normal mode (head speed at 1750), first flight with the radio on the fury extreme, and hit the switch... the engine shut off.. I nosed it over to try to get some speed up but not enough.. Had a little bit of a hard landing and had a boom strike. Chopped the carbon boom off like nothing! That has to be the worst position to be in to have a flame out..

I feel so stupid for not checking everything out.. I was in a hurry and now I have to pay.. I think I might put some fuel tubeing on the hold switch or something till by brain figures it out

GREAT radio though! I'm liking it very much!

hold.. I have the throttle cut on the momentary switch..(top right) and that will only activate the cut below about 1/4 stick.. I have the rudder d/r on the right front (sd I think) and the hold on top..

Size does not matter when it comes to the spacing between the switches. I flew JR for many years and the first thing I noticed when I 'Felt the Difference' and switched to Futaba (9Z at the time) was the spacing between the switches. Futaba spacing is closer, but for the advantages of the radio, I learned to live with it. I still have the same issue with the 14MZ, but it doesn't affect flying, just feel.

I learned on JR and learned to hold the radio with my fingers between the switches. I switched to Futaba moving to a 9Z and then a 14MZ and it's been a PITA ever since. I sure wish Futaba would increase the spacing between the switches.

really never heard of anyone else saying it, search a few threads lots mention this actually...? I was just at a good funfly last weekend and four people had 8fg and a 10 as well although all liked radios every single one of them commented in the tight switch spacing. Yes I tried holding different and also using different switches but could not get past how it affected me andy flying is all. I'm a huge fan of Futaba so don't take it wrong I just wish they'd evolve on their tx switch spacing or down drop the rear ones. I pinch and the 8 was a pita for me, each to their own but by far I am not the only one that feels this way no sir.

I wont say more about it, I've bitched about this a few times so nuff said, but I do hope they will evolve abit and perhaps make some new tx cases in future as I do sincerely like the Futaba stuff no doubt.

I guess maybe I don't have issues because I have only used Futaba. It seems the above guys have problems also coming from JR.

It all depends on how you learned to hold the radio.
